Default LED bulbs in rear license plate

I am trying to find out if anyone has replaced their "Factory" rear license plate bulbs w/new LED ones? If so, are you having any issues w/them throwing a "Code?" If not, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me where you got them from....It seems the ones I have "In" are throwing a code? That's what the GM service manger told me?

Never heard of thowing a code with LEDs. Since most of the C7 already has LED, I can't imagine this would really disrupt any electronics.

Also, how many total LEDs are needed? I thought the license plate and cargo/trunk lights are the only halogens that need to be swapped. Anyone have the actual LED bulb types?

I replaced mine about 18 months ago. No codes, no issues at all. I got them from a vendor that is no longer a supporting vendor (no, it was not CorvetteMods), so I can't link to them. They have a lifetime warranty on their LEDs. JWMotoring.

It doesn't throw a code but your OnStar report will tell you there's an issue with license plate bulbs.

My '14 Z51 (VIN 11822) threw a couple of codes when I replaced the interior hatch and license plate bulbs with LEDs but I just cleared 'em and they've never shown again since

bluman...I don't have an active OnStar subscription w/them. I just can't see paying these folks to listen to the radio...or that Onstar stuff...I don't take her too far out of this local area. Its a toy, and as such, I like playing w/her...i don't take her out at night (seldom) because the Deer up here will jump right out in front you. Its harder to see them @ night, then the day....I live up in the mountains. I don't even want to begin to think of the extensive damage the Deer will do to a Vette.

I had them installed for more than a year, then they began to flicker. During my next oil change at the dealer, I had them removed and installed the OEM bulbs. The OEM bulbs appear brighter and I no longer have to worry about being stopped at night for defective equipment.

Ok, I just changed my name to Thomas, as in DOUBTING.

Please enlighten us as to what the hell code you get for running a different bulb. I'm always eager to learn even in my old age.

So, what's the code? I'd like to read up on it in my Helms for my car.

Oh dear God, I have replaced my OEM headlights with 6K bulbs! Will I throw a code in them too!

TIA,

Elmer
