Default RPI Stage 1 or 2? I can't decide!

Man, this is the only internet spot where I can blindly ask for opinions... Car related only of course... I've seen off topic.

I haven't seen either stage 1 or 2 in real life. Only the relatively poor pictures on the forum (why do people shoot their skirts on the shady side!?). Walt White hooked me up with a nice shot of a stage 1 skirt. Thanks Walt!

But stage 2 is intriguing.

I don't want Z06 skirts or anything that really adds visual heft to the bottom of the car, I like the subtlety of the stage 1 and 2.

Here's stage 1 splitter and skirt:

http://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=3204

Stage 2:

http://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=3361

http://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=3280

The stage 2 splitter must come with the deflector of course.

And since my car is white with a lot of carbon flash, these would need to be carbon flash. I'm considering painting the poverty splitter (instructions are posted elsewhere), but my wife is getting too too pissy with my money outlays lately. So no painting projects...

I'll drink a Beer or have some makers mark, in your honor, for any pictures. If you write a line or two about the install, I'll have more drinks in your honor. I know that's piece of mind for your contribution to Tiffany's intense hawtness.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger myself on the RPI Z06 splitter & skirts for my white '16. I'm throwing back some honey Jack as I ponder my decision.

Good luck, and either route you take, it'll look great!!

I installed the RPI Stage II skirts that came painted in Carbon Flash Metallic. They were easy to install while it was up on my lift and only required drilling small holes way under the rocker. The front splitter is an OEM GM splitter that cost only $85.00. It cost me $125 to have it painted in CFM.

G3 Carbon. Excellent product, great pricing, American made, veteran owned. Yes, I keep pushing them, because they are very good. Just installed Z06 stage 1 splitter and Z06 style side skirts, painted Carbon Flash Metallic.

Save yourself allot of $$....suggest the OEM GM Front Splitter...about $105.00 to $ 115.00 delivered.

The front splitter will take abuse. Why buy something that is high dollar item, that has a high possibility of damage from rocks, curbs, lower entry point into buildings, driveways, shopping centers etc.

Most likely down the road the front splitter may have to be replaced.

Give this a thought. Many C7 owners have gone this way.

This post is in regards to the front air dam/splitter only and NOT the side skirts.

For side skirts, my only recommendation is C7carbon.com a CF vendor that has many side skirts available in different materials from fiberglass, to carbon fiber, and have the best price points. American made in San Diego, CA.

The more you look at the side skirts, you will realize there are many vendors that sell the same style, but a many different price points.

Happy hunting in your quest to find resolve.

Happy Thanksgiving also. Enjoy the day, enjoy your C7.

Very helpful, thanks all.

Fredc7, you, me, and Walt must be the only c7 owners who didn't get CF painted mirrors. Your car is similar to mine, but I'm white with stripes. Though I came so close to orange with a stinger (and yellow and red). Same wheels. And you have the same splitter and skirts I'm considering....

The pictures are great. Now if someone would just drive over to my place..

First things first; I gotta lower my car. I detest the 4 inch wheel gap. hopefully it'll help me visualize the extra bottom bits.

I stole this from a color thread:

See how sleek it looks? No skirts or splitter. Notice how body colored mirrors let the eye flow over the car. This is the pic that messes me up. Carbon flash painted mirror gives proportion to skirts/splitters.

Anyhoo, don't mind me.. It's all fun, dreading the day when I no longer contemplate what I want to change on the car

Ah ha! I have the answers, and they are found on the Z06.

I just spent several hours over the last 2 days reviewing stingrays and z06s. The z06 was tough... Those threads are riddled with self congratulatory rich guys fawning over their race suits, custom garages, and always showing their car in front of their mansion.

I'm happy with my *****. I wonder if I was rich, if I would have to show everyone all over the Internet.

But I digress.

The design secret regarding skirts and splitters!?:

It's all in the spoiler.

Look at the z06. No body color spoilers. They're black. The z51 spoiler style gets set off with a black subtle splitter. If you get the z07 package with the much larger black spoiler, then you also get the large skirts and the bigger splitter.

I wanted my spoiler to be black, but I hate the black side mirrors.

Anyone have a suggestion for getting my spoiler painted carbon flash? Vinyl?

You could wrap it, but it won't match the diffuser like a painted cf spoiler would. To me it would be worth it to try, even if you got a cheap roll off amazon to see if you even like it before having it painted or a pro wrapping it. I prefer doing it that way, but it's up to you.

I like the stage 1 skirts and Z06 splitter if you're still taking votes.

I was going to post a picture of my ride in front of my mansion and decked out garage, but I won't now.

Thanks roost

I would love to see a pic of your mansion and custom garage! I need at least one friend with that sort of thing..

I am taking votes. But I'm convinced that I need to lower the car and paint the spoiler first. I wonder what the price is on just the entire spoiler, just replace it. Off to google

I don't have a mansion, my ex-wife does though. It probably would be a bad idea for me to post pictures of it though.

I've seen a few in the for sale section:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...h-spoiler.html

There might be more. Also, here's an excellent how-to on replacing the spoiler:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-the-good.html

That really doesn't look too hard to do. He might have his spoiler for sale, might be worth a quick pm. I'm going to lower mine this weekend, that mod looks pretty easy.

My question is rock protection, the real reason I want a side skirt.

From what I see the stage 1 is narrower than 2?

Does the stage 1 protect enough?

Is the stage 2 any more of a hazard getting in and out of the car?

Any input will be appreciated.
