Default I'm an idiot, and I just lowered my car

Let me just get to the nut of it: I'm incompetent, an inexperienced dummy, and have little confidence.

In addition, I live in a condo, with a tiny garage (expecting a different word?), and any tool needed, I bought my self today to lower my car. So, unless you're rich with lots of time, paying someone to lower your car is a shame.

Took 45 minutes.
Bought an aluminum race jack
Jack stands
10mm ratchet wrench
19mm deep socket
Borrowed an old torque wrench

I simply used one of the threads here to get r done.

Two observations:
1) the back wheels are HEAVY as chit
2) it's easy, but hard work

The effect is very subtle, but I noticed it right away driving. I actually felt lower. The trunk is lower.

More importantly the wheel gap is more like a Honda Accord and less like a Toyota Corolla. (It irked me to no end to see less wheel gap on newer accords)

Picture don't really do it justice, but it's still visible

2 weeks ago it was a window tint and clear bra. Last week, a Glenn E polish. This week a lowering. Next week the Z06 splitter after copious, ludicrous research on ground effects. Once my wife decrees a random end to this celibacy streak, I probably won't be doing much else for some time.

It amazes me, all of these build threads. There sure doesn't seem to be a lot of room to improve this car.

Nice job - especially with the constraints you were forced to work under. It may settle a bit more over the next couple of weeks as you drive it. My C5 settled some a while after I lowered that. My C7 was already lowered by the PO when I bought it so it had a nice gap.

I don't understand you guys lowering your cars. The car is low enough, you have to exercise care crossing road imperfections with the setup that comes from the factory or the darn thing scrapes. Cosmetics, ha!

I think that the cars that are dropped a bit do look better...but if you have a splitter and skirts you are going to drag them at times. Doesn't matter how careful you are, it happens. I would be parking on the street if I dropped mine. The C6 was a pain to put in the driveway, I had enough of that chore. I was pleasantly surprised when the C7 made its maiden voyage up the driveway. I may even put on a splitter and skirts as I don't have to worry about turning them into splinters.

Can anyone out there tell me they've never slightly misjudged traffic and had to make a left hand turn more quickly than expected? There you go in the lowered car, catching your expensive add ons and maybe significant damage. Don
