How late can you order a 2016 C7?
I am planning to order a 2016 C7 Z51 convertible in the spring and was wondering how late can you order and still get a 2016?
I heard as long as you order before they announce the next model year you're OK.
Thoughts?

2016 production end/2017 production start and corresponding order cutoff/start have not been announced yet. Based on last year, sometime in the 2nd half of April is likely the last 2016 consensus.
However, you need to be aware of constraints and allocations and how those can impact an order. Just because you place an order prior to the 2016 order cutoff does NOT automatically mean you will get your order built.

The cut off could come as early as March, but keep in mind that some options become limited and the end of the year so ypu may not want to wait. It's already too late tp order Night Race Blue!

Allocations are the number of Corvettes that a dealer gets during a consensus cycle (typically every 2 weeks). A large volume Corvette dealer gets 20 (or even more) allocations each cycle. Some small dealers may only get 1 or 2 allocations per YEAR.
Put these together and you can see how it may be very difficult for a small dealer to get an allocation that allows multiple constraints (Z51 and the standard roof are the most common on-going constraints). Just playing the odds, if both Z51 and the standard roof are both constrained at 50%, the odds are 1 in 4 that any single allocation will allow both. So, in the example of a dealer getting 20 allocations, odds are 5 of them will allow both constrained items. The dealer that only gets 1 allocation every now and then may never get an allocation that allows both.
See the Constraint Reports sticky thread for the latest constraint reports and to learn more about constraints and allocations.

I'm planning on ordering my 2016 on February 29th from a local dealer (who is #2 in volume in Michigan). I'm hoping none of the items I want is on some ridiculous constraint then. I know that as a dealer he will have allocations (and if he doesn't there are 3 other local dealers who are also high volume, someone will have one). I will be using GMS (Full Employee discount thru my aunt) so purchasing dealer is inconsequential.
No way I can order now, need my bonus (paid in March) and my tax refund (I'll probably get in February) to fluff up my down payment to 55% of the total price. Plus I want to do a Museum delivery and it's not really realistic to drive a car back to Michigan until April...

Figure somewhere around April 1st. It will be announced at the 2016 bash at the NCM in March for sure. However sometime they cut off colors and options early like they already have for Orange and dark blue. They already have been cut off from new orders.

I am super new at this and am looking to order a Z51 for sometime early next year delivery. From the looks, it seems like if I order now I may get it next year. Is this true or am I way off. Any suggestions to get a car by feb-mar 17?

And normal order --> delivery times can vary widely. But 8 - 10 weeks is a good ballpark (assuming your dealer has an allocation available.) So if you want to get a car Feb / Mar '17, you would likely order in the Dec timeframe.
