Have you ever wondered?
When you pull into a service station to refuel, the guy in front of you just finished filling up with the lowest octane gas. Now I pull up to the same pump and select 92 octane. How much of the low octane fuel remains in the system and is dispensed before the 92 octane is actually supplied to the nozzle?

Not enough to matter unless you only buy a few ounces of fuel.

Slight concern if diesel fuel came thru the same hose. All stations here have a separate hose for each grade, and diesel fuel is no where near the gasoline.

I didn't think about it until now and.............now it's just a passing thought. As others have stated, not a concern.

Even a few ounces of diesel is no big thing, not mixed with that much gasoline. Even if you put in quite a bit of diesel, your car would just smoke some...
Now, gasoline in a diesel engine, er, expensive learning moment....

I think more about how long that premium has been sitting in the station's tank since not too many people use premium in most cars and trucks.
I also think about if you're really getting premium or not.
Then I think about no matter what brand of gas you're using, in my area the tankers all fill up at the same place for delivery to each one's particular station. Some are contract haulers with no affiliation with any brand or station. What makes any gas different from brand to brand and is Top Tier gas really any different?
Oh, my! How do we survive?

I used to do the same with only using dedicated hose stations, but there aren't any around me anymore unfortunately.
