C7 fly by
Last Friday there were four of us in a BMW headed south on i-95 just south of st. Augustine. We were in the center lane of three lanes. A white C7 coupe passed us in the left lane at an estimated 150 plus miles per hour. It startled all four of us in the car. It sounded like a jet coming by us. Thoughts?

You only knew it was a C7 - WHY? - because of that beautiful backside, the best behind on the planet, even including those mid and rear engined autos. You can thank Tadge and the designers for that.

Just imagine how fast that must have been for any cop in a speedtrap sitting on the side of the road, he would have been long gone before the guy pulled onto the road... just call him..."long gone!"
In the immortal words of fighter pilots... "speed is life!"
in the words of the government.... "speed kills" but speed like this kills tax revenue from speeding because they have no chance at catching him/her.

You can't outrun the radio, (or the camera) and I'd bet that wasn't the only Cop on the road that day.
There are other people on the road, (people that you have no idea what they are going to do.) Dogs and Deer running across the road, (and always the Racoon s, Possums, and Armadillos) that at that speed could be fatal. Sure you might get away with driving that fast once or twice, but sooner or later you'll wind up with your friends reading your name in the obituary column!

Did it sound like this? And did you have the same reaction as the kid at the end of my video have too? (Double Click the picture below to see the video)

I had a C4 - had to be a ZR1 - fly by me once at easily 150+ mph. It was 2AM on the Florida turnpike on a long, radiused section and I had my rental vans peddle floored to keep my speed at 85 mph. I saw him approaching in my side view mirror and knew he was flying as his headlights approached so quickly it was obvious he was hauling butt. He was in sight a total of only a few, brief seconds. This was before I ever owned a Corvette - I had a '90 300ZX at the time. I'd always wanted a Vette but this most definitely contributed to that desire.

It was a lot like this but not as much exhaust sound.

C7 is a beast and the event you saw was fun for all. I'm very glad everything turned out well. I will not drive my C7 Z51 on a public highway as that person did. Running that fast even in the hammer lane you have no control over a bunch of guys in a BMW or a little old lady with a van full of kids pulling out in front of you. When that happens you just initiated a life altering event for everyone involved and their extended family as well.
