Default D-bottom wheel trim removal?

I want to carbon fiber wrap my D bottom steering wheel bottom trim piece. How do you remove it without damage.? can it be done with the wheel in the car without removing airbag and silver bezel? Thanks!

The air bag has to be removed in order to remove the trim piece.

This thread says the air bag doesn't have to be removed, just lifted enough to get the trim piece out of the way. No real DIY info, just word description in first post, may help.

Seriously, removing the air bag takes 5-10 minutes. Just disconnect the negative lead on the battery and apply the brake for a minute to drain any electricity.

It can probably be removed without taking the air bag totally out but if you need to move the airbag, that means releasing it which is 3/4 of the battle.

I just pulled mine out. It's got two ***** that insert into rubber receptacles near the top of the piece. So I just started on the bottom and wiggled it out. It wasn't super easy, but it'll come out.

That is what I was thinking....I'll give it a go when I get my wrap.
