A lot of people have switched to carbotech ceramic brake pads. They don't eliminate dust but from what I've read they cut it down quite a bit. They're in the $300+ range.

Carbotech pads, the only sure way, everything else, incl my method written here , is a band aid.

I used a wheel sealant from one of our Vendors (Esoteric Car Detail) made by Gyeon for mine-it worked well!

I agree, the cheapest way is to apply a sealant. I've used CQuartz UK as per Glen's recommendation and it made cleaning the wheels much easier.

I've tried all tricks.

Ceramic pads.
Wheel shields
Wax
Detailer
Armor All Shield
Simple Green
Teflon
Nano Wax

Nothing will prevent brake dust to attach to wheels.

The best results I've seen is the Armor All Shield spray, but the moment it gets wet it will be gone.

May not be the cheapest way but the best way if you are not tracking the car is the Carbotech 1521 pads at $325.85 . If interested I will be happy to help you.

I have ceramic pads. I still get a tiny bit of dust. What I have always done is use a spray window cleaner and a rag. You can touch up your wheels quickly. Spray on wipe off. Great for any finish.

Armor All Shield spray AND Carbotech 1521's......

This is after almost 500 miles plus one morning of damp misty roads (50 miles worth) going to the track

Sell the Z31 and get a Base model, or drive less

Carbortech 1521's best practical solution. I foolishly waited a year before switching. Have had installed for a year and ~80% less dust and what is there is easily removed and doesn't corrode my wheels as did the OEM Z51 pads. Cheaper if you don't wait no need to have rotors surfaced!

That works but I was cleaning with two trips into town, total ~70 miles! If I left dust on it pitted my black wheels and looked terrible. Now I wash the wheels when I clean the car with standard car soap!

I agree the Carbotech 1521 are great. Had them on my 2014 Z51, and liked them very much.

On my 2015 Z51 I decided to try the Power Stop Z26 "carbon ceramic" pads. I figured I'd be a Guinea pig on CF (nobody here has posted using them) and they are less than half the price of the 1521. $135 for a full set from Amazon. I'd say they are about HALF the dust of even the Carbotechs, and therefore WAY less than OEM. Similar braking performance to OEM and Carbotech in my 300-ish miles of street driving. I'll post a more detailed review later. Very pleased though.

Pics below are after about 200 miles of driving to and from work.
