My Z06 got a bunch of swirl marks / light scratches from the damn detailers at the dealer before I picked it up.
Been using the Glen E method ever since, and have seen virtually no further damage. Makes me rue not telling the dealer to deliver the car dirty, though. Never EVER let a dealer wash your car.

I have 2015 C7 with torch red paint. Since new I've been constantly plagued with swirl marks. The paint seems to be so soft I can run my fingernail lightly over the paint and I can see it scratch. I can remove all swirl marks using light polishing agents then waxing. But they're back within a few weeks after hand washing. Anyone also have same problem. Are all paints this soft or is this normal....Any suggestions????
I have owned many car brands and the corvette is the worst.

Not me. My last 3 Corvettes, my '99 I kept for 7 years, my 2006 (which I worried about swirls because it was a darker color) that I owned for 8 years and now my 2014.....no swirls. And of all the cars I've owned the worst paint was on my Toyota Supra. Maybe because I use Zaino on my Corvettes? Just saying that's been my experience.

I haven't done this but there's a belief that good soft cloth automatic car washes do a better job because of the powerful Jets of water that we move the dirt prior to the soft cloth brushes doing the cleaning. The only problem may be with the strong detergents that are used. I'm going to start a post on this to get other opinions.

Went to a Corvette club show this past September in W. Babylon, NY. All Corvettes from every generation except for 1 car had swirl. The one that didn't was a 2 month old 2016 yellow C-7 coupe. Every car there was loved by their owners. I'm sure they try to do all the right things. Seems like the avoidance of swirl on automotive paint is not possible. All cars from all manufacturers at the car shows have swirl. Seems like manufacturers also don't know how to deal with it.

I have found that the clear coat on Vettes is very hard and durable.
It's a double edged sword in a way. It is less susceptible to accidental swirl marks, but it takes longer to paint correct via orbital buffer.
This is my '05 at 200,000 miles, right before I paint corrected, with about 50,000 since the last time I polished it.
I think my '14 has as good a clear coat as this.

I have to agree with OWC6 any newer Corvette that I have machine polished, the clear was pretty hard. However hard or soft if your finger nail doesn't catch in the scratch or swirl they will come out.

Swirl marks are created usually during the wash/prep stage so we need to know what you're doing for your routine. If you're not using a true two bucket method with grit guards and at least two fresh clean mitts like lambs wool then you'll need to start there. Of course sounds like a paint correction is in order for you first.
In addition, never use swirl motion when washing, drying or waxing. Always use back and forth motions. And avoid applying pressure when washing/drying/waxing. I use a foam gun to first wash the car then I use a micro fiber mitt and the two bucket method.
BTW, I also have a Torch Red C7, zero scratches/swirl marks.
