I've used it on both the A8 and M7. I honestly couldn't beat the M7 launch control! with the M7 and LC I was able to get 3.0-3.2 very consistently. Trying to launch myself very hard to cut consistent 3.5's. Most drivers on here will be much better with LC. On the A8 it works good but I think without it you can raise your RPM a bit higher for the launch. I'll really test the A8 launching this spring.

I can't get to track mode's traction modes on my C7 today. though I'm sure I could have before.

Switch to Track mode (Tr), press traction button in the center of dial 2 times quickly, then traction menu comes up, right?

Doesn't seem to work for me... perhaps the outside temp is too low? (was 38 deg F)

Don't press the center button too fast or it probably won't register. Once you do that it'll give you the option of wet, dry, sport 1 or 2, or track. Scroll over which one u want to use then leave it. Takes about 8-10 seconds for it to kick in. Then do LC.

38 degrees is way too cold to get any traction!

Speaking of which, how would one do a burnout to bring the temperature up? I imagine you need to hav traction control off, then slam the brakes while giving it some gas? Any tips or input?

Yeah, I've seen that menu before, but I can't get it to come back. I've tried slow on the button, fast on the button, but the only thing that illuminates is a Traction icon - the dry/wet/sport1/sport2/track menu won't appear.

The vehicle reported tires were warm, and the coolant was up to temp, even though it was 35 deg f outside - which really is the only thing i can think of preventing me from choosing any the performance traction options. Perhaps I should check the manual.

Mine doesn't work that way.
1). Put it in track mode
2). Press down twice on button on console. 1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi
3). In the middle of the screen it says "competitive driving mode"
4). Left foot hold down brake tight foot floor it, rpms will flash for a second the settle down.
5). Let go of brake, DONT LET UP ON GAS PEDDLE.

I've done this successfully before, just didn't try launch control at the time. Doesn't seem to work today.

Which option is best/safest for someone just learning how to us launch control?

Kind of depends on the traction conditions, but I wouldn't mess with it unless the tires and pavement were dry and warm, and would put it in sport or track mode.

Reading many posts here, and its amazing, and sad about all the owners who have not read the owners manual yet.

You have one, and it also can be downloaded (PDF). Google it

Well, after reading about all the success stories maybe I will give launch control a try. When and if it ever warms up and the weekend's 30" of snow disappears. Gave my John Deere 445 quite a workout.

Like what was said above, whether and temperature matters the most. I would try sport one first and as it gets warmer and dryer use track.

I've tried it several times, but I don't think I have the hang of it yet. I can get faster 0-100km times (4.5s best so far) without it.
