Default Scuff marks

I put a small scuff mark on my Expel treated front bumper. Is there a way to rub it out?

I have polished the OEM rear abrasion film with a cleaner wax product with good results. (I drove through some contaminated liquid that left splash marks that I couldn't remove, polished right out). Expel is a similar product and I would think surface marks can be polished out, by hand.

If it's the self healing type a hairdryer may work. Just be careful.

Are you talking an abrasion type scuff mark or a colored type stain.

Take it all off its over kill like vinyl car seat coves in the sixties, turn yellow and kills the looks of the car.

Xpel claims "self-healing" with mild heat application. Apparently, steam works well and is a safe way to heal it...

Xpel Ultimate is guaranteed for 10 years against yellowing (and other things). When installed on full panels with wrapped edges by a good installer, it is invisible.

Xpel Ultimate cleaning and care instructions:

Stain & Chemical Resistance

"How does XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film resist staining?"

The clear coat on XPEL ULTIMATE has a very low surface energy, which makes it extremely difficult for organic compounds to stick to the film. Insects, bird droppings and environmental contaminants (which would normally cause yellowing) such as road oils, exhaust smoke and pollution can be removed during regular washing. An example of a similar technology would be Teflon, where a Teflon pan is easy to clean because nothing will stick to it.

"What if a stain does not come off the film during normal washing?"

If ordinary car wash or soap and water will not remove a stain, there are a variety products available to do the job. In most cases simple isopropyl rubbing alcohol will remove anything on the surface of the film. In cases of more severe staining, or where something has been left on the film for a long period of time, a sparing amount of lacquer thinner can be used. Bug and tar remover available at any auto parts store is also effective. If you are unsure about the use of any other chemical on the surface of the film, please contact XPEL Support at 800-447-9928 for assistance."

How to Care for the Film

"How is care of XPEL ULTIMATE different than other films?"
XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film requires less maintenance than any other brand of film on the market. Our general care instructions are:
•Wait 48 hours after installation to wash your car
•Remove insect or other stains with bug and tar remover
•Stubborn stains can be removed with 99% isopropyl alcohol or lacquer thinner. Take care to keep these chemicals off the vehicle’s paint
•Seal with XPEL Flawless Finish Paint Protection Film Sealant at least once every 3 months to preserve high gloss
•Light scratches in the film will self-heal in 20-30 minutes at room temperature. In colder conditions, or to accelerate the process, pour warm water (120°F) over the affected area

"Can I wax the film when I wax the rest of the car?"

Unlike most paint protection films on the market, XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection film can be waxed and sealed just like your paint. Though XPEL Flawless Finish Paint Protection Film Sealant is still the preferred product, Any automotive wax or sealant may be used.

"Will XPEL ULTIMATE make the paint underneath the film fade at a different rate?"

No. XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film allows UV to pass through the film and fade the paint underneath at the same rate as the exposed paint.

If you drive a lot on interstates, it saves the front of the car. I have had it on my past 4 cars.

Call Xpel, they have a great customer service department. Secondly, call/take it to your installer. They should both have some good ideas for how to deal with the problem.
