Buyer's remorse or what?
I see quite a few for sale threads where the car has +/- 1,000 miles on them. Some are doing it because they bought the wrong car (guy with 5 miles on a new black Z06 that was dropped off in a storage unit now wants the C7.R and is willing to take about a $10 grand hit on it). The rest? We're in ours for the long haul, I guess. And made sure we were not buying on emotion, meaning buyer's remorse would never set in. Maybe some are disappointed in it, can't afford it, wife hit the roof and said "no way," baby on the way?

My first two Corvettes both had ...4 owners in the 1st year. Talk about a hot potato! I'm thinking they were purchased on impulse and when they checked on insurance ...after the fact, found the price too much to swallow.

Some of it is surely covered by the expression "eating your car" when you make a purchase and then lose your employment or an illness comes up or a pregnancy. Sometimes the fever passes or your budget is just so tight having the extra expense of premium gas can put you upside down.

Some just don't know wth they want. Not enough research, not enough money, whatever. No remorse here. I did lots of homework and bought the car I wanted, they way I knew I would want it to be.

1) people over extend themselves, and can't afford the car.
2) people that can well afford the car and if it doesn't meet their expectations, they get rid of it and move on.
3) Car has a bunch of problems and people don't want to deal with a problematic car.
4) car is a buyback due to GM not fixing the car's problems.
5) emergency arises and the car is sold.
6) competitor releases a new car that gets the owner of the C7 excited and he trades the C7.

Some folks just want the 'latest and greatest' and turn over their cars frequently, irrespective of the financial hit. I know a couple of guys like that, and they always have the newest toy (or toys) in their driveway.

A lot of Vettes are garage queens and not ever driven much. I don't understand saving a car for the next owner but to each their own.

All good reasons presented here. Unfortunately for the seller, it usually means quite a hit in the wallet.

Because maybe that will help you "understand".
Seems a certain segment of people posting on the forums have difficulty "understanding" this concept.

It's one thing to have a life changing event which makes the car unaffordable, but I'd definitely feel traders remorse if I traded in a nearly new Corvette in on something else. That's a big financial hit to take voluntarily.

Since the Ferrari is not made in huge numbers it keeps its value. The Corvette is a high production car. The concept of a garage queen Corvette does not make economic sense in my opinion. It is going to depreciate either way.

Kelly Blue Book avg trade in
2014 Stingray Z51 2LT
2000 miles, excellent condition $52,039
15,000 miles, good ( not "very good" ) condition : $47,296
For that difference, it makes no sense to me to keep the car garaged and safe from the elements or wear and tear of driving. I got Michelin A/S tires put on it at dealer when I bought it and I plan to drive it year round unless it's actively snowing and avoid rain only if convenient, including commuting to work every day I can to the city. Life is short. Enjoy your cars.
One exception might be a black on black on black C7.R with yellow brakes and yellow pinstripe on the black wheels that was being delivered along with mine. That car should be in a museum-talk about gorgeous!

We have a place in town that specializes in low mileage, fairly new used performance cars. I was there last week and they had these in the showroom: 2 Ferraris, 1 Maserati, 2 Mustangs (one older one, one 350), 2 Camaros, 4 Corvettes, 1 Jaguar, 1 Lexus, 2 Porsches, 1 BMW M6, 1 Viper, 1 Nissan GTR. Several of those had under 1K miles. One of them (forget which) had 180 miles on it. Baffles me how anyone can buy the type cars they carry and not drive them. I'd go crazy.

I am really happy with my car, but wish I had done more research before hand... would have chosen a few small different options

Some of the most confounding examples of this can be seen with the early GT500s('07-'09). they are constantly on Ebay and many are now nearly 10 model years old and have less than 500 miles on them. What were these guys thinking? Talk about saving it for the next guy.
Perfect example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mustang...m=141887987359
He is also about $10,000 above what some of them sold for new.

That is sort of what happened to me. I owned a beautiful 2012 Carlisle Blue C6 coupe and figured I would have her for the long haul, but then the first renditions of the C7 started popping up in publications and well, you know the rest.....

It's an age old argument with no right or wrong answer. But no, I don't understand buying a mass produced Chevrolet and not driving it. I'm not badmouthing anyone who does that, and the next owner will really appreciate it. That's just not for me as I buy cars to drive and enjoy, not look at and save for the next owner.

Other just plain over extended themselfs and cannot even get back to the C6 they once had. It's the Fever inside of us Thanks GM you have an amazing sales promotion program.
