Default OnStar email warning

So I get this email warning telling me I have 26 psi in my right rear tire. So I walk out to the garage. Check the pressure with my digital hand held. 33 psi. Not bad considering it was 28 degrees out side and the garage isn't heated. The other three were the same too.

OnStar must have taken their reading at midnight...... My reports are very close to gauge readings.

On Star probably checked your cars vitals when you drove it out of the garage and then sent you the message. If you then drove it that would probably explain the rise in tire pressure after you got it back in the garage. I have On Star on all three of our cars and the two in the garage never get an On Star report until I drive them out of the garage into satellite range.

My On Star reports are with in 1-2 pounds every time. If it has been sitting for several hours before the reading it is right on the number.

OP, are you sure your gauge is accurate?

Same one I used in the Miata. May be it was designed for metric only cars .

That is quite a difference if the gauge is accurate. The OnStar reading on my DD is only about 1 psi different than my gauge reads.

All four are spot on 35. It may have been a fluke reading as the car was parked in the garage which is wood frame with windows. Some times sat radio works, some times it doesn't. I don't recall if I'd pulled in or backed in the previous night.

Default Nail in tire

Finally nailed down the problem ............. 1" finishing nail. Dead center of the tire so Discount Tire Of TX was able to fix it. Darn good thing as I still have 6/32" of tread left.

So.....

If OnStar sent you an email saying you only had 26# in the tire, but at that time the DIC said 35# and your handheld said 33#, how the heck did OnStar detect the nail
