Right way to wash your C7?
Ok was washing my car and brother cam by and said " bro your not washing it the best way. I 'discussed' it with him and he says "go ask your forum buddys"
So rather than go into details of how I wash it I will ask what are "wrong and right " things to do ...
I use bucket with grid in bottom and soft brush 1st then clean micro fiber then t-shirt rag to put a tad of non carnauba wax detail mist ... I have a long thing from wally to clean inside of rims. so ...
I did look for wash in search. ...not helpful. ..

Go to one of our Vendor's site, www.EsotericCarCare.com. He has a video on the proper way to wash a car.
You could also check Adam's Polishes site too.

You will receive hundreds of opinions with the emphasis on only "their" way is the "right" way. I use a spotless water system, soap, and a micro-fiber wash mitt. I then blow it off with a leaf blower and every now and then I use a spray detailer with a micro-fiber cloth. For the wheels, I use simple green and a soft brush. That's about it. Half of my car is covered in XPEL so its not too bad. The only thing I would recommend, and this is just me, don't go with the micro-fiber cloths you get at a regular store. Go to a good detailing shop and get their cloths as they are much better than the ones you will find at a normal package store.

Also look at autogeek.net for proper way to wash a car as well as everything else detail oriented.
Don't use a brush, don't use a t-shirt rag or any other "rag". Only use good microfiber or 100% cotton towels.
What color is your car?

I guess I'm kind of a radical because I never use a cloth of any kind for final water removal. I use a sponge cloth. I tried microfiber towels with my C5 and didn't like the outcome. The sponge cloth is very soft, easily cleaned and does a better job of removing the water. Otherwise, I've picked up some good ideas watching the videos. I especially am concerned about pH balance as products I used years ago on our Jeep did damage the finish on the wheels over the years.

I usually go to the high pressure wand car wash. It's a Chevy.

Amsco invented the sponge cloth but finding one of the originals is next to impossible as the patent has long since expired. Generic brands can usually be found in supermarkets. Pic below. While I use these after the Vette is washed, I don't use them to wash the car as they are too thin. Their purpose is water removal and drying after washing.

I guzzle beer and water, for hours, then spit shine the entire car. Some say I'm weird, but I like drinking and spitting. 'Murica.
Ok on a serious note... Here are 2 tips you won't hear:
1. Clean the chit out of your door jam and under the door while it is open. Dry thoroughly. This will prevent your sill from getting wet and dirty right after cleaning it. token "that's what she said"
2. After washing your car, drive it if you don't have one of those kinky leaf blowers. The rear vents and lights will trail filth that even a pressure washer won't clean. Now park your car and take a remaining fleece towel, a clean wet one, and wipe off that chit.
Oh, that's what she said!

There are no absolutely right ways, but there are plenty of wrong ways to clean it.

Safety Car
I use a foamer from Griots and 2 buckets. I only use a sheep skin mitt. First I rinse the car off with the hose. Then foam the sh*t out of it. I then dip the mitt in clean water and gently move the foam around being careful to get every inch of the painted surfaces. I start from the top and work down. I always dip the mitt in the "dirty bucket" then dip in the "clean bucket". Once finished, I wet the car down again and do the wheels tires with a Daytona flexible wheel brush. I keep the car wet while doing the wheels. Once done, I pull it into the garage and use the Master Blaster to dry the car. Again, I work from the top down.
I probably only wash my car 2 times a year. Once in the Spring before I do a complete detail, and once in October/November before putting in into hibernation. I use Griots water less wash during the rest of the season. It works great and does not leave any micro-scratches on my black paint. You just need to keep the panel you're working on very wet.

Each piece contains the opinions you will receive in this forum on how to wash your car.
I always laugh at the three bucket method.

Always start at the top, work your way down. And use a seperate wash mit for the wheels. Why? Brake dust gets trapped in the weave of the wash mit. You don't want brake dust to scratch your paint the NEXT time you use it to wash your car.

When I take it out to speed dry it. Dayum learn some-n ever week!
So I used wash bucket & brush wash with hose for rinse asap And separate bucket for wheels as bro told me about brake dust. Have pressure washer I will start useing first and get a mitt or 2 and nix on t shirt stuff.
Told by installer NO carnauba wax! on ppf. Have a silicon blade to wipe off most water now will use micro fiber.
