It's great you are content with your C7 (great car) but I would not assume that GS buyers are simply chasing the latest thing. Some? Sure. But lots will just like the wide style, while others want more traction, while some perhaps just like it better.

Wide body of course is cool, but I agree about it not being as significant as the cosmetic difference between a C6 and GS. Even side by side they don't look that different. I think if I can get 305s under the *** end and a maybe little more power, I can live without the bigger butt for awhile. An upgrade to the GS is a little out of my pay grade for now...

I agree but an NA engine in a grand sport body is a great platform for engine modifications to bring it to Z06 levels without the added weight, complexity and heat issues of the Z06. Katech will gladly give you near Z06 engine performance for $8K.
I have been patiently waiting for this to buy a C7.

The pricing will be interesting as you can currently option a Stingray past the Z06 base price. Adding a GS into the mix will only add to that possibility. That could definitely have the desired effect on limiting Z06 sales especially if there is a HP increase. If no power increase, the C7 GS will be subject to the same criticism the C6 version had in that it was heavier and less aerodynamic than the base versions and not as quick. I guess we'll know tomorrow...

Doesn't matter what it does to Z-06 sales, it matters only to what it does to corvette sales overall.

This is not my opinion, this is info I got from GM. He even went so far as to say that the additional sales volume generated by the C6 Grandsport model might actually be what kept the Corvette in existence!

From what I see exposed in the photo of the car (Grand Sport?); nothing visible makes me want to rush out and purchase one. I will stay with the Stingray version.

I would be jealous if I bought a c6 then the c6 grandsport came out. I think the wide body looks great on the c6. The c7 imo is a totally different story. I think the design looks more exotic with the narrow body. The c7z looks a bit a mess to me. C7 gs to me will be all the mess none of the power. For once I'm content. This is not to bash anyone that prefers that look. Everyone's different and I'm sure it's going to be a great car.

You couldn't be more wrong IMHO....... I think the C7 GS, if built and slotted similarly to the C6 GS, will be a successful money maker for GM.....even more so, IF the C7 GS gets a bump in HP.

I have a narrow-body C7. I'm not jealous of the C7 GS or C7 Z06. I do think the C7 wide body looks (and obviously performs) better. I'm happy whenever the brand improves in any way. Similarly I didn't care when the A8 came out a year after I bought the A6. Unfortunately there's always some resentment or even just competitiveness on here when a newer model comes out or a current model improves. A true enthusiast shouldn't feel either resentment or competitiveness within the same brand.
Edit to clarify - second paragraph is a general message not referring to "thegame"

BUT
I have actually had this thought. Almost like the Z06 is little overdone styling wise. I was at a car show the other month in my city. They had a stingray with aftermarket rims and tires (wider than stock) that looked VERY good. Like better than a Z06.

Tadge also said they could not make an 8sp auto fit, but less than 12 months later they did. That tranny did not magically show up only months after that statement, it was in the works. Tadge is selling what he has right now and will sell future products... in the future.

GM probably did this on purpose. No way one of the presenters would slip up this bad. He even put the hash tags on the Instagram post. One can argue that British English is a bit different than American, but I don't think Oliver would misunderstand instructions to keep his pie hole shut.
Agree that it is curious they didn't release this in Detroit or Chicago, but makes perfect sense that they let it leak the day before. Needed something to strum up interest for an event 6 hours time difference from their home market. Just my 0.02.
