Grand Sport Announcement Thread

Why does this seem like a big middle finger towards Z06 buyers? Think about it, they all spent (or most of them) around $90k-$100k for a track capable car that ended up having a few issues (still an awesome car btw), and then didn't really fix them. Now they're releasing a grand sport which looks to have everything the Z06 gets, but with a naturally aspirated engine (or at least we are guessing).
I'm still excited, but I didn't think Chevy would do something like that.

That said, this GS will likely be the true Z06 successor, but only be in the realm of equal to C6Z or slightly beyond. 505hp though...I don't see it happening. Who knows though...we'll see soon.
I can say, I am a buyer for this car if it's done right...FO SHO.

Should but the gap would certainly be smaller as with the same power the narrowbody should be faster down the straights.

This is going to be a fun day! If that's it, looks like Cyber Gray (or something similar...Spiral Gray?) is making a comeback. Also looks like Cup2 tires on it as well.
The upside is that Geneva is 6 hours ahead of the East coast, so we'll know when we wake up tomorrow!

Both the Stingray and the GS will bet a hp bump. Vette has almost always been higher power than the Camaro, just sometimes one model year behind.
I'm interested in changes for the Z06 as well. 15/16 were basically identical. Does the '17 Z06 production delay until Sep mean that there will be significant changes? Could be. Hard to believe that model would stay basically unchanged for 3 model years.
Unfortunately it looks like the spats are still there.

I'm not even slightly convinced most Z05 buyers want to track their cars.

As a former '10 GS Heritage owner and now a proud owner of a '14 Z51 Stingray, I welcome the anticipated announcement.
However, IMO, GM will need to keep the price difference between the Stingray Z51 and GS reasonable [$5K], otherwise if it approaches Z06 pricing, might as well opt for the Z06.
Also, in the C6 generation the GS replaced the Z51, maybe that is the plan for the C7, Stingray, GS, and Z06 [plus Zora] models.

If you meant Z06 then you'd also be right that most won't use the car appropriately and just want to have the most expensive model at the local car cruise.

Hopefully this will make the conversion cheaper.
I did not ever plan on buying another C7 but have to do the math on upgrade versus rebuy again.
Good thing I kept all my parts to move my C7 back to stock from the ECS kit.

If they offer it in Admiral Blue with a white strip I might have to sell an organ.
