That is why I think the price point will have to be 64 grand for a base and less than 75 for a nicely optioned one.

I never saw them that low, but I never really looked. That is the issue, if the GS is the same price give or take 5 grand....why get a GS, why take less power, even though all the nay sayers with , "I don't need all the power"....Get the Z06.

Tadge says the GS will be about 8 grand more than a base C7 (55k?)
So lets say 63k.....and lets say 10k more for the Z07 option with CCB's and stage 3 aero..........
73K for a no option GS with Z07 package??
If I had a choice between a Cayman GT4.... or this GS with the Z07 package (for less $)..... I am taking the GS.
That said, I am happy with my Z06...........

The only way for Porsche to get me in their dealership as a potential buyer is to give me the 911 R for $90K or less. It's the only car I like that they make and it's priced at double that + whatever the dealer like to shaft you for on top of that.

BARF! That blue interior looks like the inside of a riceburner that's been redecorated by a 12 year old.

Perhaps they're copying high end stuff - like Lamborghini.
Hat tip to Boosted Monkey for the pic.

CorvetteBlogger wrote an article today saying that he thought the base price would be $69000. I don't have any info, but I would say that would be the max the car could start at to be viable.
Keep in mind, the 2010 Grand Sport was successful for many reasons. First off, it was a bandaid to hold over for the C7. But it was more than that.
It filled a void of people who loved the Z06 style but wanted and automatic, or a convertible or a removable roof coupe. In fact, the GS killed Z06 sales.
Another thing about the 2010 GS was that it replaced the Z51 package. I don't know if they are planning on replacing the Z51 or also having this model but I see where they could keep the Z51 and have the GS (Stingray/Stingray Z51, Grand Sport/Grand Sport Z07, Z06/Z06 Z07).
If they don't replace the Z51 than this car, unlike the 2010 Grand Sport, is not filling any voids and will need to find it's own niche.

16 Vettes and counting…..
I called them spats simply because that's what many people on here call them. I never really understood that name myself. I guess it's quicker than saying "ugly, cheap fender extensions that look like they belong on a 20 year old riced out civic.""

I think I must be missing something. Some have been longing for a Grand Sport and when it comes all the talk about is it is under powered. Who are these drivers and why is 460 HP not enough? For crying out loud the C7.R (race car not the road car) has 488 HP. From what I have read and heard in reviews is that the Z06 may have TOO MUCH power for its own good, that it is not well balanced. The GS may be, I reiterate, may be a better balanced car.

I agree with you,. 460 is enough,.. especially for the turns.... issue is with creature comforts the weight is around 1000 more then the c7r... thats why the race car doesnt need more power to be soooo competitive... that its irrelevant to grand sport BUT just interesting points about weight-- and Corvette is STill one of the lightest sports car ( real sports car Not talking 4cyl mazdas etc)

fine - sports car be a subjective term so I shouldnt of used it sorry --- I meant cars that can beat a 4 door honda accord 0-60 etc ... Im not downing cars they are all great cars in their own relation,. I was refereing to cars in their size and weight level --- a GTR is more compared to a vette for instance and its over 4k ... I was merely trying to say that in that category (whatever we call it) the vette is actually light in comparison... Not light as a race car .... ....
if we took the enginering in weight of chassis like figerglass ,aluminum chassis, carbon fiber, lgiht wheel material and light tire... and if the Luxurious and safety mechanism were only placed lets say of the 80s then a c7 would weight under 3,000 lbs and 460 hp grandsport woud be a MOSTER of a performer

It's pretty convenient that everything that is lighter than a Vette you dismiss as not being in the same class Well then no chit it's the lightest thing in its class.

Ben, I bet Tadge thought to himself, "Man I wish the regs would let us build that."
Cool car.

I'm genuinely curious because the Z06 came out before the GT3RS did and people didn't like the "spats" and saw it as cheap and cheating. Then came the GT3RS and Porsche seemingly did the same thing, yet hardly a peep from anyone, even the purest of Porschephiles who we all know to be on another level of scrutiny. Almost everyone seems to really like the GT3RS considering Porsche uses the same front bumper across 2 or 3 (don't quote me) models and adds a lip that more or less compensates for the wider fenders.
If a no joke company like Porsche makes a dedicated track car using the same front bumper/lip method and is applauded for such awesome performance; why then is it so bad for GM to have done it with the Z06 before Porsche did?
It's not "cheating" or whatever else you can come up with, when what they've implemented works. If it's functional aero why would they spend more time and money to develop a wider bumper that prior to the GS would only be on one model?
Lastly, to develop an integrated wing mid cycle for a single model is just ridiculous. The amount of time and money and other regulations, tests, etc etc would be far too much. So to do a wide front bumper and an integrated wing would make the GS the most expensive Corvette to date. Given the reaction currently when a price hasn't been announced this would be an utter failure if it eclipsed the Z06 in price. That would never happen.
