I think I'd have more fun driving a 460 hp grand sport fast than a 640 hp z06 slow.

And if yes....would you pick black or chrome wheels

But seriously, I'm in the camp that the GS doesn't need more bhp. Most buyers IMO will be attracted mostly by the Z06 body...

The solution is so simple. If one does not like the way Chevrolet has designed the G S, don't buy it !

The idea of exclusivity with a bone stock car, is one I find kinda hilarious. Yes, you bought an X model with Y trim... congratulations! It's just like everyone else's that bought one, with that color etc!

Personalized and modified is exclusive. Stock is stock imo.

The "total time out" for Z06 production will be three months, from June 24th to September 25th.

I think a good 50/60 more HP and this thing would have been a complete monster.

It is a bit anemic at what they are releasing it at, imo.

If I was going to get a GS and wanted 625-700 hp I'd go with the Katech 427 (wonder how much lighter the GS is?), but if you want more I think your better of starting with the Z and its forged engine.
This is total bs. The only thing on the LT1 that is not Forged is the Pistons and there are companies that make Forged drop in pistons. To forge the LT1 will not cost enough to equal the difference in cost between a stingray and z06. Furthermore some LT1's have blown up with and without blowers and that also goes for LT4 motors. LT4's have also had their fair share of blow ups and problems lol anyone that pretends they haven't is a dilusianal fanboy.

Everyone is different but I'd much rather have a stingray with ECS/A&A/prochareger kit than a stock z06.

Supposedly, Michelin is going to be releasing an All Season Z06 tire. However, like the Stingray, you won't be able to order from the factory but you only from the Michelin dealer after the fact.

It is a little bit true though. Especially being that performance cars now are all coming with insane power numbers. To think you can get a bmw suv with more horsepower than a corvette. Lol that is crazy.

Also in 1997 the corvette came with 345 horsepower. Fast forward a whole 19 years later, almost two decades and it's only went up a little over 100 horsepower. That is interesting. For example a 1997 mustang gt had 215 horsepower and now in 2015 it's more than doubled it's power output at 435 horsepower. Also yes I understand the vette is lighter and has never been about huge power numbers. Just pointing out some facts.

I understand what you're saying but I still think the previous statement as well as yours lack perspective. It is true that other vehicles make more peak horsepower and a standard corvette has only gained roughly a 120HP in the past decades. But the area under the curve is vastly different and Gen IV & Gen V engines pretty much make power anywhere from 2.5k up.

Despite what the Internet tells me I still think a +400HP mid 12sec car is still pretty fast. And honestly a +450HP mid 11 sec car is a good deal faster.

Would a ~500HPish C7 Grand Sport have been better? Probably given a good set of tires. But I think calling a 460HP Grand Sport anemic is bit disconnected from reality.

Just my $0.02

I think 460hp would be sufficient by today's standards if we were talking about a 3200lb car. But given that this C7 is now close to 3500lbs, it's going to have a lot of competition. Especially considering we're talking about a $70K car.

The Vette used to be the sports car for the blue collar man and was a lot of HP for the money. Not so much anymore. Not when you can get a brand new 430hp Mustang for $30k.

The Mustang and Camaro have moved upmarket in performance from where they were while the Corvette has stayed pretty consistent.

The Corvette is starting to play in the 911 segment where hp numbers aren't the end all be all. That's not a bad thing for the Corvette IMO. It has other qualities inherent to the C7 that can be played up vs power numbers.

Also, let's not forget that the Vette has become much more track oriented over the last few generations and in that category, no car is touching it for the money at this point.
