Default PDR Update Files: Check your version prior to updating

I had an 8am appointment to get the PDR updated, no drama on the trip to the dealer. Basically the update did not go through, same greenish tint playback & the version # never changed.

Why are the dealers so uninformed and why cant I download this myself & install? Wasted 3 hours of my time to get nothing done when I could download this update in minutes.

I've read on here about people having to have the update applied a few times. I guess if it's a hardware flash, I can understand that, if it's just straight software, I don't get that.

I had the update applied, but not a lot of improvement. Where do you look for the software version and what is the version # that should have been applied?

The key question for me is it firmware, or software? It must be firmware if they are updating the chip. If it is firmware it is a shame we just can't down load the update to a USB flash drive and plug it into the car and have it instantly rewrite over the existing firmware on the chip. Just like a computer and a lot of other devices.

I had to take mine in twice to get it right. As stated above, the key is to write down the software version # and make sure it is changed. If not, the "fix" did not work and has to be done again.

Hi there, the key to success is they have to do the update 2 times in a row!

Went to dealer, they didn't have an SD card so they asked if they could use mine. I said sure. They loaded the files on their and couldn't get it to recognize the card. We looked at the instructions and noticed it talking about the types of cards. Tech said take the files and the instructions and see if you can get it to work.

It took me 3 different SD cards that I had laying around before I found one it liked and it took it just like that.

just so everyones aware, there are 4 files that fm linked. in the instructions it only mentions 3. The 4th is labeled "indication". My instincts make me think this is a file that came form his vehicle in the first part of the instructions, but I'm not sure. Can fm, or anyone else that used his files verify that the "indication" file is not used by us and should be deleted? or am i wrong? I don't want to screw this up or anyone else to either. Thanks!!

So, after mulling it over and checking what i could to make sure this was legit, i decided i had enough ***** to trust fm and try the update. I used the sd card that is in my pdr slot and put the files on it. I put the card in the slot and the error message showed up. I tried with the 3 files, then i tried with all 4 files and got the same error each time. I'll chalk it up to the car not telling me NOT to F with it...

If anyone has any other ideas that i may be doing wrong, i'll be glad to try again.

PS I don't think its the memory card cause it is fine for recording pdr and it does find the files, just says they are invalid...

fm,

Thanks very much for posting these! Saved me a 2nd trip to the Stealership!

Shark,

I did not even have the instructions. I just downloaded the 4 files to my PC, and copied them to the SD card. It was empty - no other files on it. I started the car, and changed to PDR ==> Settings ==> Software and inserted the SD card in the glove box reader. It immediately came up and upgrade. Took quite a few minutes. Then it rebooted and did some more. I left the SD in the reader and it did it a second time.

Afterwards I see the version number on the Software screen matches the files. Color was much improved!

Try downloading the files again. May format the SD card and then copy them over?

Thanks flame! If you used these 4 exact files to do it, then I will try again till it works!! Maybe I'll use a smaller card (under 32 gb) and reformat it.

Shark - The SD card I used was 32GB, so maybe that has something to do with it?

nope, i think the problem was i was using a mac. I switched over to windows 10 on parallels in the mac and downloaded the files there and reformatted under windows and viola, it worked like a charm. went into the software version and it changed to 23350846at 0.1.

i have to take a test drive tomorrow to check things out. I hate that you can't view the pdr live on the screen.

Thanks fm!!! and flame!!

i took a few 10 second videos in the garage and the clarity looks very good!! I should have taken a before and after but i forgot to. I have the 2 little ones by myself tonight so can't go for a ride till tomorrow if the weather holds up.
