Default Off-Topic

I can appreciate your wanting to fix your car but the problems you're dealing with are off-topic having nothing to do with the warble noise. Off topic posts lead an important thread in the wrong direction.

I agree, easy to get off point, I am guilty of this as well. Please keep the info on the Warble. Thanks

Default Same sound as you

Anyone else ???? I haven't taken it to a dealer yet, as it's a subjective sound.

I meant to add that I too seem to hear it from my LEFT ear..... sounds like it coming from the Left Rear wheel area.
My Z06 does the same thing. Sound goes away when I let off the gas, and only sounds this way when on the gas lightly.

The post you are citing is nearly a year old. Since that time, Strake's car was bought back by GM as a test bed and helped eventually to determine the cause of the warble noise which is the ring and pinion. I've never heard yet of a ZO6 with the warble noise because it has a completely different diff and ring and pinion set-up.

Well it's going in today. First oil change, differential and corsa extreme with x-pipe and black tips. Bye bye NPP. Hope I made the right decision. I was hoping the boxes would fit in the back but had to take everything out. Some pics.

I have a GS which has eLSD and experience the warble but it's very hard to duplicate and only occurs one or less times per drive.

With all due respect I don't think you've got the same problem. A true "Warbler" is all the time at approx. 1500 rpm's with the drive-line under slight load. It's the same with every problematic base car that has the A8, and 2:41 rear gears. I do hope this affliction doesn't rear it's ugly head in C7's with different gearing, and hope your's is nothing serious.

My Z06 does it. I can confirm it also does it at @750 RPMs. I popped it in neutral today coasting to a stop sign and thought I heard the 'warble', looked at the RPMs and sitting right around 750. So it has been noticed at 750, 1500 and 3k RPMs.....

I assume you guys with the Z06 and GS have listened to the youtube video/audio? If your vetts sound like the warble in the youtube then take it in and have the diff. replaced with the new and improved one. If it is the warble this post is based on it will get worse with miles. Good luck!!

Bruce:

As far as I know, the new diffs coming out are for the base car with the A8. Don't the ZO6 and GS have a completely different, electronic diff with a different ring and pinion?

U maybe correct Pete, but if it is the same warble, it could still be bad ring and pinion no matter if it's a Z or GS. Either way i would take it in for evaluation and repair. It would be interesting to know if all three models have different diff. set ups aside from the gear ratio. I think the base and Z have same ratio and GS is different, could be wrong!

You are correct the A8 Base & Z have 2.41 and the GS & Z51 have a 2.73.

Also the sound in the video, sounds the same as mine, except at present its not the same duration in time one to two seconds.

interesting, been following this from near the beginning, all a8 s appears, my m7 warbles only when first pulling away, from 700-1100 sometimes, when i shift, i can hear it when into the next gear, but soon as above 1000 gone, hard to replicate sometimes, hate driving at 1000 to hear it. will see how it plays out, but is the same sound as video.

Jack:
If indeed you have the warble then you have a ring and pinion slowly but surely going bad. I sure would look into getting it fixed.

i would, but is hard to replicate, and as i mentioned, is only just above idle or so lift off, for a few seconds. it would be pointless i think taking it in yet. and is still under warranty for a good stretch yet. maybe launch control will kick it up a notch, heh.
