Learning remote instead of Homelink visor.
My 1LZ does not have Homelink, and I don't want to install the visor with Homelink. Does anyone know of a remote that can learn my garage opener (which uses rolling code), and also be able to learn the gate opener from my housing community (dip switches in this gate remote).
Thanks!
Thanks!

I also have a house in a gated community but I was able to program my HomeLink to work with the gate. The conversion to a Homelink visor is pretty simple.

Most likely, NO. Most learning remotes do not use RF. They use IR. There are some that use RF when equipment is hidden but my guess is they won't be able to deal with the rolling code. Why not just get a cheap 3 button remote made for garage doors and store the controller in the center console?

The problem is if the gate requires dip switches to program, I don't know of any learning device will help.

My friend has Homelink in his car, and he was able to hold the dip-switched gate remote next to the Homelink button, and "trained" it. Apparently, Homelink buttons can learn both rolling code garage openers and dip-switched gate opener. I was searching for a Homelink remote by itself, not integrated into a visor, and they are available, BUT, they all require hardwiring, would be nice if it was battery operated.

If you haven't found one yet, this battery-operated remote will work: Liftmaster/ Chamberlain 375Ut (available on Amazon). My garage door is a newer "rolling-code" type, and my Community Gate is the old dip-switch model. This remote can handle up to 10 dip-switches - my community gate uses 8. I had to use 2 remotes until I found this one.

If you don't want to install the visor, here's what I did on my 1LT C6.
I took the guts out of my remotes, soldered small wires to the back of the switches on the printed circuit boards and connected them to small push button switches that I mounted on the dash. Then I wrapped some insulating material around the circuit boards and stashed them behind the console.
This way, you can use as many different types of remotes as you wish.
