Default A/C Problem?

Had my C7 for a month or so. I went to switch the A/C on today going to work. At 70 to 72, it was blowing fairly warm air. When I dropped it to 68 and below, it got that normal A/C "chill" to it.

I'm thinking it may not be calibrated correctly. 70 shouldn't feel "cold" per se, but it was blowing warm/heated feeling air IMO.

Bring it in to get checked?

Mine does the same thing. I usually turn it down low enough to get cold air and it self corrects. Kinda has a mind of its own. Always cools excellent just have to lower the temp for a while.

Not to hijack the thread, but my preferred setting is 69 degrees, but I find that on startup it either blows "full blast" cold or warm air, and takes a while to "settle in". By full blast I dont mean fan speed, I mean temperature.

Is that normal? Most times I either wait it out or like the OP, dial in a different temperature and then dial back to 69 later.

What was the outside temp? I think that has an effect on whether you get cold or warm air.

I thought so too but yesterday it was parked in my office building's non-enclosed garage (but covered). When I started it up, it showed outside temp at 69 degrees (which changed to 70 as I drove out of the garage), I had the temp set to 69 and the a/c came on full blast (for a short time).

Conversely, sometimes it pushes heat in similar situations, i.e. outside temp is a bit lower than inside setting, and heat comes on full blast although not needed.

Yep, it seems it all depends on the ambient air temp. If it's close to 70 degrees outside give or take some I've found I have to lower the temp on the A/C.

I have dealt with this issue by setting the temp lower and reducing the fan speed. So much for AUTO

GM's automatic environmental systems suck. I always have to adjust the temperature up or down as required to get the temperature I want.

Its pretty reliable/comfortable in my Pontiac G8 GT DD, I set it at 69 degrees and pretty much never touch it and don't notice the swings I see in my Vette.

The best GM system I ever had was my 1990 C4 coupe. That car pretty much followed the set in temperature. I don't think my body would stand for 69 degrees. I set mine around 74 or higher most of the time.

It's also related to the outside air reading. Let it run for a few minutes, it will compensate. The computer keeps it balanced.
