Default What do you think about this panel fit?

I just noticed this yesterday. Even though I didn't see it before (I've had the car for 18 months), I can't say with certainty that it hasn't always been this way. It seems that the fit should be tighter (which it is on the other side). Thoughts? Is this something that I can adjust myself or will a trip to the dealer be necessary? Thx.

I've seen panels on other Vettes with simiar fitment variances. My rear panels aren't that bad, but not perfect either. Maybe it's just the lighting or shadowing that makes it stand out more to you now... or not. You could simply just push or pull the panel to see if there is any movement, or take it to the dealer, but I would hesitate with the latter. GL

If you take off the seal along the front of the spoiler and loosen a few of the left-most screws in the channel, you should be able to have someone push on the rear fascia while you tighten the screws down to get a better fit.

Mark down your hours and send the labor bill to Bowling Green.

Excellent. Thanks, guys.

Patches, I'm just about as mechanically challenged as anyone. How tough is it to remove and replace the seal? Thx.

Only took me 30 min. to remove the entire rear fascia so performing this correction should not be a big deal.

You'll only need to release a few of the tabs holding the seal in rather than taking the entire piece out. Theta posted a how-to from the SM. Then you can loosen three or four of the left-side screws under it.

Here's Theta's thread:

If your "challenged" in the mechanical sense, I wouldn't pull off the rear fascia for that. Maybe have the dealer take a peek at it. Good luck.

Increasing the time allocated to QC in Bowling Green will eradicate these ****les. The C7 is at a crossroads and needs a proverbial hand to get to the next level in quality terms.

I've seen worse elsewhere, on cars costing three times as much.

When I visited the Plant in Bowling Green, I observed several quality fit stations where the technician would use a particular gage to measure the fit and trim of the various panels. It appeared they were very diligent about getting it correct. I would take it to your dealer body shop and see if they can make the appropriate adjustments.

Mine had a much worse gap. I finally had to have the dealer remove the rear fascia and replace the panel fasteners under that gap. It was especially bad on a hot day.

I suggest the dealer ....you screw it up .. you own it ....take a photo when you drop it off...in the event the dealer scratches or makes it worse in anyway... you are covered ... if you really are particular ..take it to a top rate body shop ...

mpuzach, you're the Corvette C7 sales specialist at your dealer and you're asking us about correcting a seam? Don't you trust your dealership? Doesn't bode well for the customers you sell to.
I'd still buy from you if I lived in your area.

You know I'm just funning with you.

I have the same thing only in reverse of yours. Looks your uneven at the top and mine is at the bottom, I too just noticed it the other day and couldn't figure out if it's always been like this. The other side is not nearly as bad.

That is definitely not right. Looks like a panel issue underneath.

No indication of a parking lot bump from another car? That is way off.

What do I think? I think it's typical of the poor build quality for the C7 since the beginning. I also think the paint quality is equally as bad, and this photo shows my point.

Mine is like that too... i noticed it but not sure if it's enough to complain about but then again... when you spend $87K ( candian price ) on a car, i think the fit should be perfect.
