Should I order a 2016 or 2017??
I can still sneak in an order on a 16 Z51 or should I wait for the 17 order window? Also I'm seeing pricing anywhere from close to msrp to 8000 off msrp. Obviously want the best deal possible but some dealers don't want to play ball when ordering vs in stock. So is 5000 off msrp ridiculous? That's where I'd like to be. Any input would be much appreciated.

That depends on what you want from it. Are the changes on the 17s worth it to you?
Some of the visible ones (which might not necessarily be big ones for you):
1. For Z51s, PCV changes under the hood which might help with coking.
2. The 17s have infotainment changes (mainly just apps) that cannot be updated to 16s or older.
3. PDR changes / features added to the 17s.
4. If you get the 3LT with colored stitching, you can get the colored shift paddles. You can always get them painted or replace them yourself on a 16 if this is a big one for you.
I almost did a 16 Z51 but I'm going to wait for a 17 instead. The GS is a good deal if you want it, then you're limited to a 17. If you pick a 16 off the lot, you also get a discount of $1000 or $2000 if you have either a different non-GM car or a Corvette, respectively.

There aren't any big changes for 2017 besides the GS, I would price the 2016 and 2017 and see what the difference is. If it's close go with the 2017 it will be worth more later because it's a year newer. I think you will get a good discount on a 2017, since it doesn't have any big improvement over the 2016 the demand won't be there. Look at how much % off of MSRP they will give you. I bought from MacMulkin and the transaction was smooth with no additional fees. Good luck

I am waiting and watching how 2017 sales go this summer. Could be some great deals on base C7s upcoming? Dealers want to keep their allocations and might sacrifice profit margins to keep their current numbers up. I already have a 2014 C7 so there is no hurry. Thinking; September/October.

Google used C7s............ you will be amazed. I did a 180 this week........figuring to get a new 17 or 18. I'll get a new 18 alright in 2 years when the used cars with < 5K miles are sold for $10Ks off original sticker.

Definitely order a 2016. The discounts available are up to 12%. You will not see that on a 2017. As others have stated, 2017 changes are not significant.

You want to drive your C7 this summer get a 16. Contact a Fourm dealer like Mike Furman at Chriswell . He has over 100 16 in stock and has the just announced rebates.
His direct line is 302-212-4420

I know you didn't ask, but the incentives on the '16 are very good until the end of the month. That's probably just the cars on the lots. IDK
Now to answer your question. IMHO if I was going to order, I would go with the '17 just to say I have a '17.

I appreciate all the advice so far. Please keep it coming. It will be the first vette I've personally ever owned. My dad has been a vette guy all his life. He's had a 64,69,75, and currently still owns the 74 convertible we bought when I was 12. I'm 40 now so it seems like forever since I got my first ride in that car. Could barely see over the dash.

I had been on the 2016/2017 fence for a while and decided on a 17. What decided me is the GS, and a new color- perhaps that's not a good comparison with your situation.
With that said, I am also of the opinion, why buy a "new" car when by the time I get it, it will already be a (model) year into its depreciation? This is just my opinion.
Good luck with your decision.

Unless you are wanting a GS. We ordered a '16 in mid Dec..... got it in early Feb and love it. Nothing on the '17 I would wish for that our '16 doesn't already have.

I placed my order for a 2016 Z51 3LT and was just notified my TPW is 5/23. I ordered the 2016 as soon as I heard the Brownstone interior was being discontinued. And I got a good deal for a car not taken off the lot (invoice plus $500). I know I could have done better from a forum dealer, but after factoring in a courtesy delivery fee, it's only costing me about $440 more. That to me is worth it to deal with my local dealer. The improvements for 2017 weren't enough for me to overcome my desire for the Brownstone interior. Now, I'm just counting the days.

I also went thru a local dealer . After doing the math of going to pickup at a forum dealer and the idea of a local dealer for service I found it a wash. If you go local make sure thay have a allocation for a z51 if you order one.

Unless you want a GS or one of the discontinued colors, I can't think of a single reason why you should wait. Buy a 2016.

I know this: if I waited months before owning a 2017, perhaps not driving until after summer, I might be somewhat jaded if a 2018 came out just months later with significant enhancements..
I would be more inclined to a deeply discounted 2016. The GS changes it all, if you want that, you don't have any choices - you order and wait.

Having the car to enjoy in June and July is a bonus if taking a 2016 (May too if buying from dealer stock). Not much of a difference between 2016 and 2017 unless you want one of the new colors. With the new incentives announced today if you qualify...around $12k off a loaded Z51 is well worth it if you find the car you want in stock
