PDR and iMovie
Hi Guys,
We're going to totally geek this one out here.
I noticed I had to convert my pdr files from MP4 to MP4 in order for sound to be heard on my Mac. I generally will watch movies in the photos app and I have everything uploaded to the cloud so it's the easiest for me.
I'm thinking about buying a memory card reader for my iPad Pro to try and edit videos this way. My concern is if the audio doesn't play then I've just wasted some money buying the lighting memory adapter.
Has anyone used IMovie on iOS with their pdr videos? Did the sound work or did you have to convert the file first?
Thanks
Pat

I haven't been able to get audio with iMovie though I didn't try too hard. I wound up using VLC on both the Mac and on an iPad to view the files (with audio) without any new encoding. Free for both. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html for your Mac (or pc) and VLC for Mobile by VideoLAN https://appsto.re/us/QR_WM.i

I have the Lightning reader and haven't been able to get it to work with the PDR card on my air 2. I can get it to the import screen, but the contents of the card won't load. It works with the card out of my drone camera fine, just not this one. I haven't really dug into trying to figure it out, I just put the videos on my mac pro to work on them.
If you don't have another use for the reader, I'd hesitate to recommend you buy it for this purpose. I dunno, if you do, maybe you can figure it out.

iMovie needs a conversion from the SD card MP4 to an MP4 adding the AAC codec for sound to work as well as video. VLC will let you play the video, but doesn't solve the 'import to iMovie for editing' issue. A known method to have success is located in this link: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1594373639

When I edit the files I am not able to run them in Cosworth Toolbox.
So, just FYI...if you edit them at all, including changing the file format, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to view all the outstanding analysis info in Toolbox.

I use VLC Mobile for iOS and a with Lexar Mobile Manager (free App). Simply remove µSD Card carrier from the Glovebox and place the µSD Card into the Lexar. Plug the Lexar into my iPad Pro 12.9" and view the PDR MP4 files in VLC Mobile - with Sound!!!
