Default Help! My Vette is being held hostage by the town!

Town tore up the pavement in front of my driveway, says they'll come back to pave it "in a few days".

Last year (before Vette) the water main broke, they dug, fixed it and put a temporary cold patch, half of which ended up in my garage courtesy of the super sticky Michelin tires on the Vette.

Nearly a year and a dozen calls later town shows up to replace temporary cold patch with new hot asphalt. Per my discussions with them, I was assured it was going to be a same day job, now they say they need to wait to line up a few paving jobs before doing it.

The best is the gave us no notice, I'm lucky I didn't have the Vette out, as I would have needed to get some wood or something else to help with those drops/transititions.

I know, first world problems, but I needed to vent...

That sucks, hopefully they fix it sooner rather than later!

That happened to me last week for 3 days. They had to repave my street and before they could do that they had to dig out about 3 inches in front of the curb. I just had to hold tight. Man! Talk about withdrawal symptoms! I feel your pain.

Thanks guys! Was getting no sympathy from the wife (but that's par for the course) I knew somebody here could relate.

They actually showed up just five minutes ago (I happen to be working from home today) but I'm not terribly optimistic about the quality of the patch job. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised...

Doesn't look that bad, throw some wood down and drive on.

Only in front of your driveway? Looks personal.
Just kidding. I hope they finish it properly for you. Gotta be a bummer having that done.

Tell them to put a steel plate over the dirt for safety reasons.

That's cute that you think that's being held hostage haha.

My entire city is evacuated due to wildfires, my car was at my local Chevy dealer that day getting an oil change. They locked up the dealership with my car inside before I could get back from work and then we all had to evacuate. My car has been trapped for 2.5 weeks now, I haven't seen it and have no idea if its going to have smoke damage.

Be another 2 weeks or so before I have the possibility of getting it back. Its truly being held hostage.

I would have, except I threw away almost all the old 2x4, 2x6 and 2x8s to make room for the Vette in the garage

Yikes! That's awful! I hope everything works out alright for you, your family, neighbors and your city!

Tell them you're gonna wait to pay your property taxes.
With the property taxes you guys pay in L.I. (I assume that's where the L.I. comes from), this is unacceptable.

That stinks. I would call them again explain your problem and see if they can do something temporally. If not I would run the issue up the food chain until I got some type of satisfaction.

Looks like you can just go in the neighbor's driveway, down the sidewalk, and right into your garage. Problem solved!. So obvious. You're welcome.
