Well, I tested my 2015 A8 on a long trip this weekend - Perfect!!!!
Hi Everyone,
Here is a good report on the A8. I have a 2015 with 5300 miles on the odometer. Built 4/28/15.... Went to Maryland from NJ this weekend to visit the Mother-in-law for her 90th birthday and had 200 miles to check it out at all speeds and in traffic. Happy to report it was perfect at all speeds and modes.
Tried the cruise control test, no shuddering or RPM moving up and down, except on inclines. No banging into gear in traffic or noticing any rough 1-2 or 2-1 shifts. It performed flawlessly like it should.... My gas mileage was great too, about 31 MPG's.
So I thought I would give some good news on the A8 with all the negative I have been reading here.
Only problem I had was I almost took out the right side of the car merging, boy there are some large blind spots and my mirrors are adjusted out. But that is a story for another day....

Nice write-up, and car performed 'floorlessly'?!! (lol--flawlessly maybe?!)
YESSS on the blind spot, especially the right with merging back into middle lanes from the far left. Nerve-wracking it is. (And yes, mirrors always adjusted).

Yes, fast lane to the middle really is crazy. I looked two times, had blinker on and luckily merged slowly. Have no idea where he came from...

I hear ya, I have nothing to complain about with this C7--just that right blind spot! And really only when merging back in from passing/left lane. Feels like a gamble!
But heck, my motto: Enjoy Where/When You Can
And yep, another happy customer here. 2015 A8 Z51 7,000 happy miles.

Hmmm... My spellcheck happens right in the browser! I type floorlessly and it underlines the word with a red broken line as being incorrectly spelled. Why do people ignore that? BTW I use Chrome but I think all browsers spellcheck input fields now a days...
Look up on this forum, or google it for that matter, how to set your mirrors to avoid blind spots. I have, for most of my life, never set them correctly. If set properly you should see just a portion of your rear quarter panel in the mirror when you head is flush up (smashed) against the driver's side window. You should see none of your rear quarter panel when you are seated upright and your head is aligned with the steering wheel. Similarly for the passenger's side mirror only your head should be in the middle of the car. Once set this way, and it takes a little getting used to, use your driver's side mirror to see if there's anybody in the left lane and the passenger's side mirror for the left lane. Done properly any car in either lane should be visible in either the driver's side mirror, the rear view mirror or the passenger's side mirror. The mirrors are set to spread out and view everything behind you. There are now no longer any blind spots at all. Try it!

Same here. Round trip from MD to BG for the Bash, over 1300 miles. Performed flawlessly. Much of the trip in heavy to moderate rain. Car didn't melt. Around town tranny is a little notchy with rough and hesitant shifts at random times. 5500 miles. Will ask for reflash at 1st oil change.

I bought my 2015 , 1372 miles on it, A8 lt3 in Maryland Saturday from ad on car guru in after flying up from GA and wife and I drove it home. First time driving one for longer than a few minutes. 700 miles, 31 mpg, 65 mph. avg, Interstate all but about 40 miles. We experienced no problems. Other than the thumbs up and comments we got on the way home.

Too Much Fun
Just hit 6000 miles on a weekend trip and my 2015 has a seemingly perfect A8. With all the negative attention the A8 has gotten I am always watching & waiting for something to happen and never noticed anything negative about this transmission.

My A8 (Z06 March 2016 build) has been perfect. Getting used to the Z06 power took a little seat time

I am pretty pleased as well with my A8. Only a couple of cold start clunks in 4000 miles. Some of our other owner's experiences have made owning an A8 like holding a hand grenade with the pin pulled. I wish we knew whether that little .08 cent o-ring was only an issue in .01 percent of the builds but we shall see.
Again, the attributed Mark Twain quote may apply here, " I am an old man and I have known many troubles, most of which have never happened."
