Default Took the Corvette to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Each year, the dealership that I bought the Corvette from do a customer appreciation day for Corvette and Camaro owners. We get a police escort from the dealership to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and we get to do a parade lap around the track. Pretty neat considering it was the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500. I don't know the exact number but I think there was at least 50 from the dealership I came with but there were well over a hundred at the track all together.

Video of caravan with police escort and the ride on the track. The track starts at 5:31:

What a fun event!

I did a similar thing on the Kansas Speedway here in Kansas City. Even though they had a pace car and a chase car and you weren't supposed to get over 75 mph, we still had a good time.

....and yes, I got WAY over 75 mph.

Did that with my Pace car a couple of years ago, let my son drive, we hit a whopping 25mph. A memory of a lifetime!

That's an experience that I'm sure you won't forget. I drove there at speed with the Richard Petty Driving Experience. It really is a special place.

Wow... what a deal. I'd love to drive on that track, speed limiting pace car or not. I've driven my C4 on the Daytona track, twice on Road Atlanta, and once on Bristol, all behind pace cars. But cool nonetheless. I'm looking forward to driving my C7 on a track with the PDR recording it.

Wow!!! What a hoot. Just to get a chance to drive a lap around the "Indy" track would have been and experience that I would love.

I was able to do an Indy lap as a part of our caravan to Nashville/Bowling Green for the 50th anniversary. (that's already 13 years ago!) Still have a video of it. I'll be leaving tomorrow for the race but will unfortunately not be able to do a lap like you lucky ones...

Thanks everyone for the compliments! Yeah, it was a BLAST! Something about being in a caravan with a bunch of cars that is really cool. I also think the officers doing the police escort had a bit of fun.

Now I have the itch to take the car to the drag strip.

Looks like you guys had a blast. I did that with my C7 vert for the drivers introduction lap last June just before the MavTv 500 IndyCar race Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

Thanks, my dad got his 14 from Hare. I will have to ask him if he got an invite and didn't go.
