Default Windshield stress crack (warrantied)

Upper passenger side.
I just had my windshield crack due to stress, it delaminated and cracked from the inside.
Good news is, GM is aware of the issue and will be replacing the glass under warranty.

2014 Z51 12,243 miles, no track time.

I had it in the same exact place. GM is replacing it under warranty, but I have been waiting 2 months for the window to come in. But at least it isn't going to spread any farther until I get the new one. I don't have a head up display either. Don't know what the long wait is for.

Me too. It is covered, the warranty claim was submitted 2 months ago, but now window yet. Mine is without head up display by the way. The crack going down is to the pillar now can't go any farther at least.

Maybe my dealer is not the very best?

I had the exact same crack but was told that GM wouldn't warranty it by the dealer. Didn't feel like arguing with the dealer since FL insurance covers windshield replacement. I wish I had seen these posts before taking the car to the dealer lol

Same.....my dealer told me 5-8 days taking into consideration the holiday weekend. Waiting to see if it actually arrives as they say.

Is there any idea what is causing this and if it can be tied to cars manufactured in a certain time span? The OP has a 2014, so what about everyone else?

No, I didn't. There is no noticeable difference to my eyes though. HUD still works great and there is no distortion in the glass. Safelite did the work.

Mine is also a 2014 coupe. I noticed the crack at 2k miles on the odometer.

Just to let you guys know, my dealer sent me an email yesterday and said the glass is really going to happen. It may be a week or two, but GM indicated that they are dancing as fast as they can.

Very close to mine (12/18/14), so it's not all 2014s. So far no cracks here at 4k miles.

Mine was scratched, it took 7 windshields before one came in that wasn't already damaged. Make sure you check the class before the install, also make sure the guy knows what he's doing because there is a lot of wiring in the upper windshield that can be damaged. My dealer has a guy that comes to the dealership when the windshield comes in and he checks it before I go so that I don't waste a trip.

I plan on asking what is the permanent corrective action, because the windshield is the effect of the problem.
I got a call today that the glass arrived but will be taking it in on Tuesday for replacement.

Too bad that is happening, but at least it seems GM is covering it for the most part.

I have a 2015 coupe, w/hud. Stress crack in the glass, driver side near the roof panel. Replaced under warranty, 2 days later a 10 inch crack in the new windshield. Took it back to the dealer, they put a third windshield in,now this one has four small hairline cracks in it after a few days. The dealer has a GM engineer coming to look at it next week? Not sure what is going on with this but there has to be a serious glass problem.
