I'm getting a new A8 for my 2015 C7
Hello all!
I just wanted to let youall know that it's possible to get a new replacement A8 if you are having problems.
My transmission was diagnosed with double engagement ( I had that hard shifting problem in the morning that some of you have also had). The dealer has ordered a new transmission for me, and I should receive it sometime this week or early next week. I've had this problem for a long time, and a different dealer tried a software upgrade and a new torque converter and neither of these fixed the problem . So now with a new transmission I should be able to start enjoying my Z 51 again!
I took delivery of my car in October 2014. So it was a early production transmission. I'm hoping that this is a 2016 transmission and that it will be better.

At any point in the process did you:
1. Summon an entire army of lawyers or a complete legal team?
2. Start 314 threads on CF on this subject
3. Refuse to let GM touch the car
4. Sign up on this forum with multiple new user names and start even more threads
5. Take apart over 37 A8 transmissions to do full comparisons and provide the findings to said army of lawyers
6. Threaten to create a poo storm at the 2016 Bash
Just wondering.

I hope it works out. Good luck!

OP, are you getting the new tranny because of the dealer or chevy cust. ser. ? Did the dealer/or Chevy mention how often they have to replace these A8's ..did you learn anything else that you could pass along?
Should owners with the same symptoms ..simply insist on a new tranny and be done with it...rather than getting run around with fixes that at best may be temporary ...anything mentioned about recall ..or extended warranty for this A8 ?? thanks you ..

If (and you should) get the 2016 version you will be happy. My March built A8 worked great right out of the box, and is still working fine.

My A8 was built in Dec. 2014. After the tranny was replaced, it is running fine now. I did get the 2016 transmission.

Only issues my trans had was the delayed engagement. TCM update fixed it for a month, then a new transmission (#24274892) fixed it for another month, but it's doing it again. Going back again next week so they can try something else with the relearn procedure. Hope the new trans works for you!

Good luck with the new tranny and hope GM learns how to make a A8 tranny that works right so us guys in our 2014 A6 'S can upgrade to a A8 in the future!

Wow. My dealer decided to replace the Stator instead of the torque convertor. Im kinda scared of such a major-surgery fix. I doubt they would entertain a whole new trans.
But I will mention it for sure.

Mine is an October 2015 build 2016 model, and it is as smooth as a baby's butt.

I don't know if I'm supposed to mention a dealer's name, so the administrator to this forum might need to edit this post.
But the Carl Black Chevrolet technician (Kennesaw, Georgia), started the car in the morning (overnight stay) and immediately diagnosed the problem as double engagement and recommended the new tranny. I didn't even have to beg!
I'm sure I just got an early lemon and this one will be great. But I also got an exceptionally good dealer. I'm not sure every dealer would have done this. I hope to get my car back next week.
I'll keep youall posted.

There is a TSB for the A8 transmission. I got this from another part of the forum. I brought it to the dealer last Thursday. This may have helped in their decision to give me a new transmission.
