Had oil change-don't think I got Mobil 1
Just got back from my oil change at the dealer and I asked the service writer if they used Mobil 1 in the corvettes and he said they did use Mobil 1. I checked my paperwork and the part number for the oil was 19293002. My last oil change was at another dealer and the part number for the oil was 12345885 which I am sure is Mobil 1. Does anyone know if part number 19293002 is Mobil 1.

I think you got the generic dexos oil this time. I had mine changed yesterday and the part # was 12345885.

This OIL is a genuine OEM GM part #19293002 and carries a factory warranty.
Sounds like Dexos to me.
12345885 is M1.

Isn't it amazing that cars used to go 250,000 miles on dino oil? Just boggling...

Your engine will run fine either way. I was asked the second oil change if I wanted Mobil 1 for an extra dollar amount. I then asked what they put in the at the first oil change. Informed it was a blend, Dexos. Since I am not going to keep the car forever, Dexos is fine with me.

Per GM, M1 is supposed to be put in the Corvette.

It really makes no difference, Dexos or Mobil 1.

Unless you are not changing your oil at least once a year it won't make a difference for normal street driving. If you are tracking your car it does need a heavier weight oil as GM requires. Personally, when I've gotten my second "free" oil change by the dealer I'll be doing my own changes and I will be using Pennzoil Platinum. No slam against Mobil 1 but I think Pennzoil is better. JMHO.

If you are still not sure which oil they put in your car, try tasting it. Mobil One is "hoppier." Dexos has more hints of malt.

Regardless of what's better oil, I think the main issue is that the dealer lied to you. You said you had asked if they use Mobil 1 and they confirmed that, but then put in Dexos..that's the issue, not so much the oil they put in it..

Reason #242 I do my own oil changes, and only use dealer mechanics if I am forced to warranty repair something major.
