All this does is if your car gets stolen and parted out, someone runs the vin number etched on the glass, you'll at least get the glass back. Lol no car, but your have the window you used to roll down.

One of the Corvettes I owned had it done at the dealer before I purchased it but I never understood what the purpose of it was.

Insurance will decrease your premium, but I'd guess it's a trivial decrease.

I had my vin etched on every part of the car. It wasn't cheap but I feel better knowing that the dealer can take a longer vacation.
I also had a genetic marker put in the engine oil. The drain plug is so easily accessible and Mobil 1 is expensive and in high demand.
