Anyone who had a c6 then went to a c7. I would like to know your thoughts. Was thinking used but havent looked at pricing for a 2016 new. I also have a uncle that works for GM. Does anyone know if there is a discount on a c7?
Try to sell me on the upgrade please. thanks!
I have a 3lt GS manual.

I owned a 2012 gs and now a 2015 c7.
My thoughts are as fallows.
If you drive spirited thru turns then you will need to buy a z51 or above or add z51 or better sway bars to the base model.
The base model does not inspire confidence when pushing it hard in the turns.
The engine wile it has a better torque curve is not night and day difference.its a good but slight improvement.
Fit and finish and electronics the c7 is much better then the c6.
High speeds both are solid. The c7 has more downforce and the c6 is better CD.
As far as styling thats up to personal taste.
Hope some of that helped.

Test drive a C7, and your questions will be answered.

I've had my new Z51 for a couple months now. I used to have a '08 Z51.
The new car is quieter and has a much better ride even though I don't have the Mag Ride.
The fit and finish of the C7 interior along with the instrument panel is vast improvement over the C6. I would think that you would be very pleased with the "upgrade".

I went from a 2012 Centennial Edition GS M6 to my new 2016 2LT Z51 M7. The C7 is clearly better in just about every category.
You would not regret making the switch

I had both a C6 Z51 and a C6 Z06 w/ a BMW M3, an Audi RS4, and Jaguar F-Type mixed in between. I recently purchased a C7 Z51, and I'm amazed at the incredible refinement over the C6 generation. The C7 Z51 is essentially equivalent in performance to the C6 Z06, but with a much nicer interior and many other creature comforts.

I've owned five Corvettes. First a '97 C5. I've ranked them. My 2016 Z51, first. My 2010 Grand Sport a close second. Wonderful Corvette. Loved that car, and always will.
I loved my 2010 so much, felt guilty praising my C7 more.
However, after six months, got to say the C7 is just frigging awesome. Performance upgrades my high five, but also must add the interior is sooo much nicer than anything offered in the C6.
I love all Corvettes!

After having owned both,....the base C7 (without Z5) inspires just as much confidence when pushing it hard in turns as a C6 (with Z51), so you don't necessarily "need" the Z51 in the C7.
The extra HP in the C7 is noticeable over the C6.

Major discounts on a new 2016-like 10-12% if you deal with the forum dealers. May even do better buying new than slightly used.

You have been driving a Z51 so the extra suspension, cooling and brakes must mean something to you.

Recently traded my 2013 base C6, which I adored, for a 2016 C7 non-Z51. For a long time I refused to think that the C7 was that much of an upgrade, but it really is in every area. It almost pains me to say that as I loved my C6.
First off the car feels significantly quicker. The LT1's torque curve basically matches an LS7 up to I think around 5k rpm's. This is really noticeable whether driving the car hard or just cruising around. The A8 for all the issues you read about is just a beast when driving hard.
The C7 just feels so much more solid which gives you more confidence, it's just a much better driving experience. No more rocking seat Base vs base there is no comparison in handling. Guessing it would be the same going from GS to a Z51.
Interior is much nicer in the C7 though I think I'm one of the few who wasn't bothered by the C6 interior. Still love those C6 gauges but time moves on.
The one thing I will say is that the C6 NPP sounded louder and better to me than the C7's does. The C7 is a bit more quiet than I'm used to. Getting used to it now but am thinking about an x-pipe for more sound.
The C7 does have bigger blind spots which also takes some getting used to, but not really a big deal.
C7 is the next generation, plain and simple. Drive one for yourself and see if it's worth it for you to make the jump.

All other responses are correct, main thing is to drive one, I think you will find the C7 is a major change from the C6. I have a 2016 Z, but if you want essentially a Z with the natural engine, then the Grand Sport would be my choice. I had considered waiting for the GS, but I had a C5, and just could not wait any longer, so I got a Z and I do not regret my decision at all.

I had a '10 GS with 4LT and Heritage package and traded it in for my current '14 Z51 with 3LT. IMO, the C7 interior, exterior, handling and power is superior in every way! Do a test drive and you will see and feel the difference!

Had a 13 GS A6 3LT CP now a 15 Z51 A8 2LT CP. Wife did not care that much for the 13 but likes the 15 and the C7 is a better driving vehicle.

If you can afford it, get one. You won't regret it, and your GS will soon be a distant memory.
We are on #'s 5 and 6. Had a '97 C5, '04 C5, '06 Z51 and '12 GS with an A&A supercharger (which I sold to get my new ride).
We now have a '14 3LT coupe (wife's) and a '16 3LT Z51 (mine). Night and day difference from the C6 - once you make the switch you will understand Tadge's comment about the C6 being obsolete.
I do highly recommend the Z51 if you are going to track it, but the base is quite adequate for very spirited driving or track use at maybe 70% or so. Best of both worlds would be the C7 GS, new for 2017.
If you have a GM'er in the family, you likely can get the GM discount, else as stated the forum dealers can make an offer which is hard to refuse.

To the OP, I did the same thing you are considering, a 2011 GS to a C7 base 2LT. What has been presented above is quite true however, if you ask the same question in the C6 forum you will get different answers. Do test drive a C7 and ask questions. As for deals, yes, they are discounting 2016's and there is a GM $2000.00 loyalty rebate if you are a current Corvette owner. Do I like my C7, you bet I do. But, I'm not you and only you can decide. Get to a dealer soon as 2016 models will soon be gone.
