A8 reassurance poll
This poll is for those who own a A8, or are considering buying an automatic, but are concerned because of all the negative posts.
I know I didn't include everyone's scenario, sorry about that, pick what's best.
Let's let the numbers speak for themselves.
If you don't own an A8, please don't contaminate this thread with unwanted negative opinions.

I have base C7 with A8. I have it a month, with 1,500 miles. The transmission is so smooth I don't even notice it, under normal driving. It fades into the back ground. Give it some gas and it becomes more noticeable, as it should.

Its problematic answering a poll like this. I have had a bunch of problems, lots of software updates, and this week a new torque converter. So now it seems to work like its supposed to, but what next?
And don't forget, it overheats, which they still won't fix and wouldn't let me fix unless I was willing to void the power-train warranty.
So is it "fixed", or not?

I'm trying to help folks make a sound decision on buying a car with an A8 in it, spend more money on their existing cars, trade them, or be happy with the decision they made.
Good luck with the last repair, I hope you don't have to deal with any more issues.

I'm thinking about making a poll if people are sick and tired of people obsessing about C7Z overheating and/or C7 A8 problems. You can go to Ferrari, Porsche, Viper, and other sites and see all cars have issues.

Personally, I kind of like the poll. I might have titled it "A8 Perspective Poll" but no big deal. I do have an A8 and really enjoy it. I have driven it quite a bit in manual and auto.
I realize there have been some serious problems--and I know what a bummer that can be. But, as mentioned by Old Goat, the C7 is not alone . . . If you put TOO much stock in forums, my 996 (M6) was supposed to have the IMS take out the motor (unless the porous casting did first). At 65K miles I traded the 996 for an Audi S5, which was supposed get toasted due to excessive carbon buildup. After 5 years traded on my new C7, which is clearly the most fun I have had yet.
Sure, one cool morning I was in a hurry and took off before the idle had even slowed down and had a rough 1-2 shift. But that was the only time and I don't blame the design. You can also get an occasional rough shift if you are slowing down for a light and it goes to green and you decide to accelerate. But that can also happen with a double-clutch (my S5) and when it does you REALLY notice it! Of course both symptoms go away if I manually shift, which can be a blast with this car.
And, to cover my bets, I do have a good warranty . . .

Edit: Got my cold delay (~2 sec.) and slightly-less-than-smooth (not really hard) engagement on July 3rd like clockwork--almost exactly three months after the last one. Is there a timer inside the TCM?
I just worry about whether it'll get worse, but if not I can certainly live with it as is. I'd be very happy to accept the excellent shifting I now have with no worsening of this one minor glitch. However, my dealer's SM says the very few C7 A8 issues they've handled have started to surface at 6-10k miles, so with me at 4.1k I do worry about it worsening. After doing a TCM software update and "fast relearn" last November the tranny has shifted much better. Count me as a satisfied A8 owner currently but with some concerns for the future.
I'm not counting the V4 shuddering that I get even less often than the delayed engagement, and even when it happens only for the first 10-15 miles on the highway. Some think it's related to the A8 but GM says it isn't, and I'm okay with that, but I'd still like to know what's causing it.

"A8 Reassurance Poll"= LMFAO. To be really "reassured" I think you should buy an extended warranty for as long as you can afford.

Do you really and truly think that this poll will help anybody decide whether to buy an auto or not?

Poll: A8 owners, any problems with transmission?
