IPOD Purchase
Am going to purchase IPOD. Will use it in my 2014. Have read some users have problems with certain ones, others have great success. What works and what suggestions do my C& friends have? Considering a Touch, for a current 24 GB library. Thanks

LOL Zune. I had one of those and I got made fun of all the time. I still liked it better than iPods. To bad MP3 players are a dying segment. I bet Android would make a pretty bitchen one if they wanted to

I have a 10-12 yr. old iPOD I recently found collecting dust in a drawer. It's not compatible w/ the USB ports, but just for grins I plugged it into the head phone jack, and it appeared in AUX under the media setting. It sounds amazing.
I also have an iPhone, I use to Bluetooth stream, but that old iPOD had a much larger collection, some of which I haven't heard in years. Moreover, they just don't seem to ever quit working.

don't think a une would last long in a vette, considering it is really a mini hard drive system. Was before its time, just like the Sony Reader and my ex wife

Former Vendor
Don't buy a huge hard drive Ipod. They have issues working in the C7. I bought one of the new Nanos and have never had a problem.

Had issues with my ipod classic 30gb. Bought a refurbished ipod touch 5th gen and it works pretty well. Sometimes have to reconnect but I can select playlists, albums, artists, etc.

I have a 2013 Camaro SS, first year of Mylink. I have two Ipod classics, one 120gb and one 160gb, both work in the car although can sometimes not allow me to skip ahead. I have also used second and third gen Ipod touches (32gb and 64gb) both work but similar issues to the classics. We also have a 2014 Silverado with Mylink that the Ipods work much better in and I suspect the more development time they do with Mylink the better it will get. Other than my Ipod classics, all the Ipod touches I have I bought used off of ebay. I also have a new Ipod Nano 7th gen, it won't work in my Camaro but works fine in the Silverado. In the Camaro it says no music is on the device.
The nice thing with the Ipods is you can easily create the playlists, etc. in Itunes, sync the playlist to the device and it transfers everything to the device. I have over 2000 cd's that I ripped to Itunes (that project took me a while) so the Ipods are the easiest way for me to sync new tunes that I buy. You can use a USB stick, it will work fine but if you have a huge volume of music that you always like to have with you Ipods are the way to go.

Ipod Touch with BT or Thumbdrive?
I have a 16 Z06. I have tried iPod classic, iPod 4th gen and usb thrumbdrive. Thumbdrive has been most reliable but really gets hot.
Thinking about going iPod 5th Gen with BT and using BT for playing my music.
Question I have is this: Is iPod with BT more reliable for music playback than iPod using USB cable for music playback?
I have approx 12000 songs and close to 100 playlists..

When I start the car, whatever SD card I have in the slot starts playing in shuffle mode. No more paying for XM and having to listen to the backsides of songs etc!
Far better then messing with the iPod IMO.
For newer C7's you can buy flush mount high capacity "thumb dives" to fit in the USB receptacle.

Melting Slicks
Haven't put stuff on it yet, but I got a Sandisk 64GB thumb drive for $17 on EBay. It has maybe a 1/4" bump on the end of a USB. Amazing how they've been able to shrink these things. It's actually kinda hard to unplug it's so small...

Moore's law sure fits digital storage. I recall going from cassette tapes for my Tandy computer, large floppy disks for my IBM XT, the magic of IOMEGA storage, CD's - all of which could not hold nearly the memory of a 1/4 inch bump on a thumb drive!

I originally used an iPod Touch 32GB, but ran into a problem with it overheating on summer days and taking 15-20 minutes to cool down. Switched to a 64GB thumb drive and found the sound quality and convenience to be nearly the same. Lately I've been using Google Play Music and BT, though the quality isn't as good as a 320kbps MP3 file.
