Default A6 AFM problem.... advice needed

My 2014 A6 does not shift properly in any mode from 4 to 8 cylinders around 25-35 MPH in city traffic. When you need to pick up your speed and you apply the gas, the 4 cylinders rev up quite a bit and it still won't go into 8 cylinders unless I punch it slightly (not good in traffic). The dealer says that it's programmed that way but every 2014 A6 owner I speak with says that they don't notice any shifting issues. I am confident that I have a glitch somewhere? Has anyone come across a solution (possibly hardware) that the warranty will cover?

Also with an A6, 2014 vert. I don't have an issue though. I let the car take care of itself. I stay in sport mode

I don't drive in A very often but, when I do, it transfers seamlessly between the modes. All it takes is a touch of throttle and load, and V4 goes bye-bye.

Seems like something is not right, given your narrative. Is there someone in your area (which would be helpful to fill in on your profile) who owns a '14 A6 who could either drive it or ride along to see if it seems normal to them?

Here's how i solved that problem. Put the stick in manual mode and use the paddles. AFM will be disabled and you will have fun shifting. if you are going on a long highway trip, put it in drive and curse when you feel the little shudder when it goes into AFM. I paid for 8 cylinders and i like to use them all, although when we drove to Kentucky i used ECO mode and got 31MPG. I have read that the mileage hit for not using AFM is small, maybe 1 or 2 MPG.

The dealer has agreed to reload the AFM software to see if this corrects the 4to8 shifting when I put the gas on to accelerate. I was trying to see if we could replace something on the hardware side, but the head man for the service department said he wouldn't know where to begin. With 900 miles left on my warranty, I'll try anything.

The dealer is going to do everything they can to spend as little time and money on your problem as they can especially if you are that close to the end of your warranty. If it were me and I have done this with cars that have AFM, buy a programmer and turn it off. Also if you are willing to go the extra mile, buy the mechanical parts that delete the AFM ones and install them.

Thanks for your input. Please provide me what mechanical parts would be needed to replace the AFM ones or maybe where I could find a reference to them.
