If getting more than 30 mpg in a car that even runs say low 12s isnt enough maybe its time for an economy car instead. Thats pretty impressive not to mention idling like a kitten passing emissions etc.
Nothing wrong with wanting more but be realistic cant have it all
There has to be a point when the hp wars will be over Im surprised mfrs have pulled off what they have over the yearsl
Wheres the line?
Were spoiled really wasnt that long ago when 12s meant a trailered car and couldnt get 10mpg on a good day.

There would also be a huge pile of people like me flinging themselves off buildings in protest. Ya want good MPG, get a Prius! (I just wretched a little when I typed Prius!)

a 5.3 will NOT get better MPG on the same car and weight.. weight of a car reflects more on its fuel economy then engine (depends on how drive it ofcourse) -- example c5 ls6 does 30s mpg where same engine on cts-v does 20s even teens...
actually isnt the 5.3 iron block ? I could be wrong but if yes then it weighs more and worst fuel ---

The L83 (5.3L) & L86 (6.2L) are both aluminum block & heads.

Meh -- I had the 5.3 in my Silverado and was never impressed with it.
