Try to get the local news to run the video or at least part of it with the name of the dealership. The bad publicity is the one aspect that will really hurt the dealership.

Like the above poster stated - you could get the local news to run the story quite easily, it just depends what the person wants. You might get some free oil changes or a warranty or something but at the end of the day its just more work than it's worth.
Best thing you can do is take your business else where.

Here in the Los Angeles area there was a valet parking attendant that went on a joy ride that was recorded. When he didn't get any satisfaction he took the video to all the local TV news stations. Most of them ran with it.

Okay, I'd be pissed also, but it could have been worse, burn outs, doughnuts, etc. I'm sure you have driven more aggressive than that. That being said, I would still stalk him, and burn his house down.

[QUOTE=Woodson;1592719842]What are the damages?[/QUOTE
One quick quote on the web says $800/day including 100 free miles. No hourly rental available.
Could be that the OP values rental of his car at more than $800/day, plus insurance etc.
I'd say round up to at least $2000 considering that the use was not pre-agreed upon.

Sure glad I do not have to deal with a dealer like that around here.

Depends on your view of things. I have always liked shops to test drive my vehicles as I drive them. So, if I have an SUV in for service they don't drive it like it was a vette etc. However, I always make it a point that they actually drive the vehicle especially if they are fixing a recurring problem. Years back one of my muscle cars was misbehaving badly. It was a '68 SS 396 Camaro coupe. The electrical system would short out unexpectedly for no apparent reason and the circumstances were never the same. I told the shop to drive it until they could isolate the problem and fix it. They found the problem and put 200 miles on the car after the fix on my instructions. I was happy for this "insurance" that the problem would not recur.
If I had a garage queen vette, other sports car, collector car etc that I obsessed over endlessly and almost never drove then this "joy ride" would upset me. However, I have always driven vehicles as they were intended to be driven. So, if this was my vette I would appreciate a spirited test drive to confirm that all is working well as intended. Driving a C7 around the block at 20 mph proves nothing except that it performs as well as a Civic. A vehicle should be test driven as the owner expects to drive it.
This is my two cents worth. I'm old and times change. Cars like the C7 are made to be driven very hard. So, I think that is the way they should be test driven.

I'd give the dealership one more opportunity to make it right then go all hells bells on them. TV stations, etc. I would definitely send the video to the local PD. I'm sure you have the person on video driving it, and you only showed us the juiciest parts?
And keep this thread alive and send a link to it to the GM and owner of the dealership.
