What Made You Fall in Love With Corvette?
#21
Saw my first corvette when i was in 2nd grade i believe it was the c5. I told my dad that family must be rich look how shiny it is. At that point i had a respected image of the brand but never had a 2nd thought about getting one. In 2015 i went out for my friends birthday and he pulled out a premire edition red coupe. My mouth dropped open as i never seen this car before so i didnt know what it was. I was like holy **** he bought a super car. When i found out how affordable it was i drove down to kerbeck the very next week and didnt leave the dealership till i got one. Such an exotic looking car with performance for such a price. Till this day i still cant believe how impulsive i was but till this day i never for a single secobd regret it

It's been so long ago I don't remember exactly when the love affair started. It was in the early 60's though. Although there has been ups and downs in this affair, I just can't be untrue. The allure is too strong.

Always a car guy but never too fond of the early Corvettes. The first that caught my eye as a car I liked was the '97 C5 since it was actually a car that you could travel in and use. It actually had cargo ability and a comfortable interior for a sports car. I bit and the rest is history; 2 C5s, a C6, and 2 C7s. They just keep getting better. They are great cars but I'm still not too excited about any of the C1-C4s.

As a 13 year old kid working at drive-in restaurants in South Carolina, I would see guys and their girls drive in to the restaurant in corvettes on Friday and Saturday nights. I fell in love with those body curves. Wanted one ever since, the corvette that is. Got my first 'vette, a C5 in 2006. bought my second, a C7 z51 earlier this year. The love affair has lasted all these years and continues to grow stronger.

In 1967, while in college, a buddy of mine took me for a ride in his new 67 Vette and I just felt so cool just being a passenger. While I could never afford one as a young guy, I promised myself I would get one when I was ready to retire.

My first Corvette was a new 1972 Steele Cities Gray Coupe. I was 24. It was a Saturday morning and as I was opening the mail I noticed the Insurance Premium on my 70 SS Chevelle LS6 had jumped from $735 to $1,470. It had doubled and the car was now 2 years old. Ouch! So, I thought about it a little while and went out to the Chevy dealer and later that same afternoon I had traded cars and brought my 72 Corvette home. It was just a case of economics. By the way the new Insurance Premium on the new 72 Corvette was $270. I am now on my 29th Corvette.

Might I be the only one who's first corvette love affair is with the C7?
While I always loved the looks of the really old corvettes, while growing up most American cars made at the time where a POS, um I mean not very good. Back then I vowed never to cave in and buy junk just to be American.
Times have changed, 3 cars and a truck in my driveway, 2 Fords, a Chevy and a Ram, all great vehicles. The C7 is the first corvette that really tugged at my heart.

The C3 was the first 'vette I noticed as a kid, but I never saw one in person. Many years later the C5 came out and I was at a dentist's office; he showed me two black ones he bought for himself and his wife, and that was the first time I'd seen one up close.
The C7 was a game changer for me, having slowly transitioned from various used cars, mostly imports, to my last one, a Dodge Challenger. I was ready for a proper sports vehicle. The wide body Z06 impressed me the most, it really looks exotic, so when the Grand Sport came out, I had to get one.
Having driven my first for a few days since I bought it, I am smitten.

I never cared for the old ones. One day I saw white C6, and knew one day I'd own a late model Corvette. Marina and I talked about it at length and decided to buy.
Not a day goes by that I don't go out to the garage and stare at our C7 Z51 convertible. We love the looks of our car!

When I was 10 years old I built this model. Was instantly in love with the car. 17 years later I got my first Corvette a 1978 white with red interior, L82 anniversary edition. Now I have a 2016 red with red interior Z06.

I think it was the erection that I got when I drove past Kerbeck's back in 1989 as I saw a White Convertible C4 up on the riser outside in all of it's glory!

My mother took me to Florida back in 1989 and the first time I saw a red C4 coupe I wanted one. My obsession, however, really began when the local dealership got the first C5 on the lot. I had just turned 16 and it was a white hardtop and I'll never forget standing over that long sloping hood. I love the C7 but the C5 will always be my favorite design.

Was never really a fan until the C6 and seeing the ZR1. Once the C7s came out I was sold. Pretty simple for me..lol.

It was 1969 and my parents were at the Chevy dealer buying a new impala. In the showroom was a brand new 69 vette. I was drooling. It was gold with black interior. 7 years later at 19 years old I bought a blue on blue 1969. I had that for 18 years and for some reason I sold it. That lasted about 6 months and found a 1971 yellow 454. A few years later I let my wife talk me into selling it. We didnt need the money but we just werent driving it much because of raising a family. I always knew I would get another one. I am a huge fan of the early C3's so I thought it would be another until the new C7 came out. I struggled for 2 1/2 years deciding on a C3 or C7. I finally pulled the trigger a few months back on a new 2016 3LT Z51. And lovin it !!!

price to performance ratio.
Until someone makes a car less expensive that is a better performer I will stick with a Corvette.......or until I get tired of them, I'm not brand loyal.

Went rumbling up Interstate 5 Tacoma to Seattle in a red C1 with the top down. Cold as hell, but that was enough.
