Default RESOLVED: Need help please! Dead central dash panel after MGW install

PROBLEM TRACED TO A BLOWN DISPLAY FUSE.

I posted this over in the Performance/Tech forum also to get the largest coverage, so please forgive the repeat here. I am desperate!

As the title states, I installed the MGW shifter this last weekend and also swapped out the passenger side dash panel (awful job) and top dash panel and although the car works fine and the regular dash all works, the central dash is completely dead. None of the buttons lights or responds to touch, the screen is dead, the screen retraction does not work and the audio on/off/volume does not respond.

The airbag lights and the hazard buttons work and all the switches (brake, TC, mode switch, power outlet) on the central tunnel work fine. The glove box open button and inside light also work fine.

Just nothing from the central dash.

Obviously I've screwed something up. I've disconnected and reconnected the battery to no avail, but have not as yet started disassembling the tunnel top again.

I was not aware that any of the plugs in play in the work powered the central stack, but I guess that is incorrect.

Any help or assistance anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I hate to say it but you're gonna have to tear it down again and redo it. That's the only thing I can think of to make sure everything is reconnected and nothing is getting pinched or pulled when you put it back together. Good luck!

I don't mean this in a bad way, but are you sure you didn't unplug the central stack harness and forget to plug it back in?

I swapped out my dash and the passenger side piece and had no problems at all.

Is the car under warranty? If so play dumb and dummy up on the shifter install.

Really! Personally, I could never do that.

Not intentionally! I'm going to pull the tunnel cover again tonight after work and see if I left anything unplugged or pulled something by mistake.

I have a feeling that I'm going to have to go with head bowed to the dealer. Sadly I think that could be an expensive exercise so I want to see if I can fix myself first.

I have not torn mine apart yet but I have background in electronics and have been in MANY dashes. I would bet 99% that you pulled a plug in there somewhere. It is either loose or unplugged. Make sure you touch ALL of the plugs and make sure they are tight. Also try pushing the wires into the plugs. I have seen numerous times when a plug is removed and plugged back in the pin can push out so even though the plug is tight a pin might not be. This may not apply to all types of connectors and I am not sure of the type used in the dash.

Check everything and you should be able to figure it out.

Take it back apart .. I'm sure you will find a connector not plugged or not fully engaged ...

Check all your fuses first ...

Looks like you also changed the a/c dash panel. That has a plug. Is the passenger temp gauge functional? Can you change the temperature? Since you have to drop the glove box, you may have dislodged a center stack plug when you moved the box out. Good luck.
And, see if anyone has a schematic available for the stack wiring. Good place to start looking for plugs and connections.

Thanks to all who posted help. I traced the issue to a blown fuse in the Display. For some reason that also wiped out all of the central dash control buttons as well.

Glad it was an easy fix. Now let's see the pics of the new interior!
