Are Automatic Corvettes Hit With Lower Resale Values?

Guys, you're doing it wrong. This is a flame bait thread!
Here's a few:
- The auto is worth less because the previous owner didn't know how to drive
- The auto is worth less because the car only uses 4 cylinders
- The auto is worth less because your momma is so fat..
- The auto is worth less because only women have driven it! <-- my favorite
- The auto is worth less because it's missing a pedal
- The auto is worth less because it only comes with chrome wheels (BAM! So offensive and insensitive!)
Meh, good effort, but I need more coffee.
Hopefully I got the thread back on the right track.

also museum delivery is an option but i doubt anyone would pay more for a car that had that done.

I've always said there's something wrong with username Ben Casey.

I was so done with middle school 10 years ago.
This would have rocked, "BenCasey, your mom told me last night how much she loves my hot rod"
BAM!

Why would the used market be any different than the new market? If ~80% of buyers prefer autos there's no reason it would be any different for used ones.
I'd also offer that you could price two identical used 2014 or 2015 C7s on NADA or another such site with the only difference being the type of trans and have a pretty definitive answer, but that wouldn't provide front page clickbait.

LOL . . . funny thread. I don't doubt the Manheim auction results today. It will be interesting to see how things develop over time.

Sticks have been popular because typically they were faster in a straight line than automatics. With automatics now surpassing manuals with lower ET's; a younger demographic; and the improvements in paddle shifts, autos will continue to grow in popularity.
ALSO given the other end of the Corvette demographic is aging, older knees aren't likely to continue to want manuals.
Just sayin....

Right now, new C7s are selling at an 8 to 1 ratio of auto to manual trannys. No reason to think there's a substantial difference in the used market. The question is, what happens if the next Vette is an auto only as some have predicted? Then I think the manuals will become desirable because you can't buy a new one. People are funny that way, always wanting what they can't have.

Of course used market demand resembles new market demand _today_. The C7 is currently in production.
That's not a particularly interesting question, and I don't think it was the question being asked.
Years down the road, things will change. Future demand is unlikely to be proportional to current demand, or else (for example) all cars would depreciate equally.

OK, now we're cooking.

I think it indicates the buyers' choice 3 to 1, Auto over Manual transmissions. A margin that commanding indicates the Auto being the preferred trans. So, no, I don't expect that to ever be the case.

Well, I'm in my 60's and have an M7. So there!

It wouldn't surprise me of the used demographic preferred manual more than the new car demographic- especially private sale. New car buyers are probably older. I'm also willing to bet a lot more "track car" buyers buy used than new- or at least more favorable to manual than new.

My first corvette was a 1992 c4 L98 with a six speed manual. The next four were all autos. Take from that what you will.

No, auto transmission technology has never neen netter and are in demand. The trend towards autos as been increasing year after year.
The real question is: Will getting a manual decrease resale value?

I don't think it would be funny that prices would rise if they killed auto. 20% of the new car market just got shoe-horned into the use car market.
