Another "how much should I offer" thread
I friend of a friend of a friend is allowing his, supposedly, 2014 LRG Premier Edition, with about 4k miles, to languish in his garage. With the prices of prior year C7's tumbling, or so it seems..., how much should I offer? Through one of those friends, I was asked to make an offer.
At one time, I was looking for one of these LRG Premiers, but every one I found was priced more, often WAY more, than I felt fair. Now with the 2017's shipping, and their prices are not out of my comfort zone, I'm less and less interested in the 2014 LRG, I'm not opposed to buying one, but at a price that really piques my interest.
Thanks.

Appreciate the situation and I like the 4k miles and validation from a "friend" that the car is well cared for. A car is worth what the buyer is willing to pay. A garage queen is the kind of car I like to find when buying used. It is a very good bet that the owner has a number in mind below which he will not go for now. Rule of thumb you are usually better off getting the sellers price first. He may think it is gold and you may need a chair to hold on to when he give you his price in which case I would thank him and move on. If you like the car remind the seller that although like new, his car is used and soon to be out of warranty if not already. Warranty matters big time. Remind yourself and the seller that you like buying new to get full warranty. Chevy improves these cars every year so remind the seller that you like the new features such as additional trans cooling, flat bottom wheel. auto trunk close that his car does not have. The 2017's are out and discounts on 2016 are terrific so you are leaning toward new car purchase. Probably a good idea to see a dealer and ball park price a 2016. If the seller is high on his price given 2016 discounts the price difference may not be that great which argues for the new car. Talk to the seller then give the guy a few days to ponder and get realistic that his car while maybe nice, is not gold. Not saying this is the case, I don't know but people may say a car is for sale but it really isn't they are just looking for a big pay day. Hope these points help.......good luck.

Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, Texas (DFW) just broke with this ad on radio today; "All remaining new 2016 Corvettes @ -20% off MSRP." -20%, seems to be the discount - for a leftover 2016 on the Chevy dealers' lots, according to this and a member here that bought a new 2016 last week @ -20%. -.02
ON EDIT: Ad was on the radio. I'd call Ken Thompson @ Classic Chev. in the morning for details.

Their website does not reflect that discount you mention.

My suggestion is NOT to offer $35,000. You risk pissing them off, and realistically, hell will freeze over before anyone gets the car for that price in today's market.
That'll be the price much L8ter, say like in 2020.
