Default Compartment behind the radio/screen?

Anyone know how to run wires to that small compartment behind the screen? I want to install something back there but haven't found anything on how to get wires back there. I am afraid to drill thru it and test me luck.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks friends.

"Something"?

Specifics would be helpful. There is a USB port there.

It seems Theta is MIA and based on earlier reports of health challenges may need to be remembered here.

I wouldn't blindly drill though with it in place. There isn't much room behind the compartment at all. I installed my wideband readout in there and later ran a wire to the dashlogic to read AFR to the dash panel as well.

When I installed the wideband gauge I took the whole center stack out to get behind it to run the wires. It looks daunting, but if you take your time it really isn't that bad but is quite a few panels removed to get behind there. There are several photo illustrations or YouTube videos that make you more confident you can do it yourself.

Also, depending on the size of the wire, you may be able to pop out the USB port in there and run a small wire through that area and then pop it back in without pinching the wire. I did this so I didn't have to take it all apart again when I ran the wire over to the OBDII area. That wire was essentially thermostat wire like you'd run in the house to give you an idea. I just filed a small area in the plastic cove so the wire wouldn't pinch and then popped the USB port back in.

Thanks for the info Elite. My phone has been going full retard so I never got the email notifications that anyone replied.

I am trying to run the wires for a radar/laser jammer and want to keep the unit back there.

you're going to put a radar/laser jammer behind the infotainment screen?

Can you run a power cord to the unit from the USB port? I believe there is another thread where someone purchased a power cord for his Garmin.

Might do the trick.
