Here's what happened with my A8 yesterday.
I backed from a parking place, put her in drive, and started off. Another car backed out, and I had to let off the gas (and as we know these things want to get out of first as quick as possible) just as it was changing into second. Of course it made a quick jump forward just as it slid into second gear. Didn't do it again the entire day trip. This was just my experience, and I'm sure it doesn't cover the problems that some are having. Just want to let other A8 owners how mine showed it's ugly side.
BTW, my build date is 03/16

Sounds to me like you are in early stages of becoming very well known at your Chevy dealer ...home many miles on the C7 ? Based on your build date ....you fall well within the problem time frame ..

Right at 1500 miles. I'll surely know soon. It's going on a 4K miles road trip next month. Fingers crossed it doesn't show it's *** in the Middle of No Where, Oklahoma.

I'm hoping mine was more of a timing thing on my part. Had I let off the gas while it was already in second gear I'm fairly sure this wouldn't have happened. Coming off the gas in the middle of a shift, and hitting the brakes just wasn't what the trans wanted to happen.

These things are sometimes too smart for their own good, when trying to determine your intent on aggressive driving or casual driving, and if you interrupt the process like that, they sometimes shift into second a bit harsh. Have fun on your trip, it will be fine

It was just the timing of it, I have done the exact same thine a couple times, and now I know not to do that

I will say that you can have rough shifts with a DCT too, after having one for 5 years. A rough shift with a DCT is are even more abrupt.
PS: just flew back from Ron Fellow's at Spring Mountain! WOW was that fun!

My exact experience. First 1-2 shift of day can be smooth or harsh depending upon how I leave the drive. Of course, I would not even care about this if I did not hang around here so much. Not sure why we expect mechanical devices to work the same cold as warm-hot.

Geez, I have the 2014 with the absolutely perfect, bullet proof A6 auto. I thought they "fixed" the A8 problems. I have been thinking about a 2017 GS, but I just don't know...

Don't think it ever was a big problem but anything could happen to the very few unlucky. My very early build 15 A8 has been fantastic to date, not even been re-flashed. If it works don't fix it, could create problems.

I don't think you have anything to worry about my friend. Mine is just a cautionary tale of what can happen if you let off the gas just at that inopportune time when the trans is in the process of shifting from first to second. It's something I will pay attention to when needed. Mine has been as smooth as silk other than this little faux pas.
