Default Ken Fichtner is alive and well!

WOW!!!

At first glance I was humored at a post in the forum quoted below.

But after a few seconds of giggling at how Rimrock is handling inquiries from my customers I have become angered.

"When I traded in my 2014 it had a wheel/tire warranty I got from Fichtner. When I called GM to get the refund on the unused part of the warranty they said I had to call Fichtner where I bought it. I did and got a Rim Rock) Chevrolet who told me that Fichtner no longer existed....that they were sold to Rim Rock and that I'd have to go back and call GM to take care of the refund..... and then I called GM back with that information and they took care of it for me. Folks at Rim Rock told me that Fichtner had died.....either way I could not get Fichtner to handle the warranty issue for me....had to get GM to do it even though GM initially insisted I call the dealer to handle it."

Here are the facts:

In the summer of 2014, I sold our dealership to Underinner Motors. GM declined the purchaser and subsequently assigned the franchise to the Rimrock Auto Group.

I remained at the dealership in an attempt to continue to serve our customers in the same courteous, friendly and professional way that my family had since 1952.

Unfortunately the new owners had a different business philosophy than what my family developed since 1952.

As a result I have joined the team of the largest Chevrolet dealer in Montana and one of the largest in the Northwest.

I am now moved in and conducting business at Denny Menholt Chevrolet in Billings,MT.

I am a New Car/Truck sales manager and also handling the sale of Protection Plans.

I can assist you with the best possible deal on a new Corvette and the best possible deal on a Protection Plan.

For Protection Plans sold at Rimrock Chevrolet, you can either contact Rimrock Chevrolet to assist with your refund, or call 877-265-1072.

I can't cancel plans purchased from another dealership.

I am not dead! I am very much alive and it's quite obvious that my Corvette and Protection Plan customers have found me and followed me!

Shame on Rimrock Chevrolet for their tactics. This says a lot for the business that they have lost and will lose!

Contact me for your Protection Plan and next Corvette.

Have a great day and thanks for your business.

Ahhh so that photo of you in the casket Rimrock was sending everyone must have been photoshopped!

AND...I am going to need a warranty on my G/S! I hope you don't mind if I stick a pin in you just to make sure you are alive.

I bought an extended from Fichtner on my 2013. Traded it in on a 2016 a few months ago and it was a real hassle getting my refund. Lesson learned, from now on I'm buying warranty's locally.

Good news that you're alive and well Ken. You're definitely an asset to the forum and the Corvette community in general.

I thought Ken explained it, but I'll give it a go.

He used to own his own dealership (Fichtner Chevrolet), but sold it to new ownership in 2014. That new ownership decided for whatever reasons not to handle refunds of warranties sold by the former Fichtner Chevrolet. It didn't affect the validity of the warranties, just the pro-rated refund that was due if one had reason to cancel before the end of the purchased warranty term. In any event, GM took care of it.

I bought an extended warranty from Ken in 2006 on my C6 Z06. I sold the Z06 and transferred the warranty to the new owner in 2009. He got a free new engine after the LS7 blew after the factory warranty had expired. In those days, the powertrain warranty was the same as the new car warranty (36/36).

I just purchased another one this past July for my C7 Z51 from Ken in his new place of business. I don't think anyone beats his prices, and both were incredibly easy transactions. I'd highly recommend talking to Ken first if you're interested in an extended warranty.

Glad to know that all is well with you, Ken!

For those folks here who don't already know, Ken Fichtner was not only one of CorvetteForum's very fist supporting dealers, he's also been a 100% class act since day one. As many here will attest, over the years Ken has provided a lot of help to a lot of Corvette owners who for whatever reason bought elsewhere. He's been a great asset to all of us here on CorvetteForum.

Default Easy to Cash in the Warranty

I bought my 2009 from another dealer, but went to Ken when I wanted an extended warranty. He was great. He suggested I waited until it was almost a year old, and then buy the warranty. I did. I just traded my 2009 in for a new Corvette, and didn't even bother Ken about the refund. I called the 800 number for the warranty and they gave me a $305 refund. It was easy!

I traded my 2014 for a new 2016 in July. I had bought the extended warr from Ken on the 2014. I just called the 800 # on the warr form and said I had traded the car. I got a check a week later for the balance on 2014 warr. I then just got a hold of Ken at his new place of business and bought the GM extended warr on the 2016. No hassle at all.

I went to my local dealer where I bought the car almost three years and 9900 miles ago. I got his price on a 84/56000, $100 deductible. Then I got a price from Ken. Saved $600 and done in 10 minutes.

Wow, when I called the 800 number they told me it had to be processed by the new owner, Rimrock. So I had to go through them. I was told it would take 6 weeks to process the check.

I waited the 6 weeks, then called GM again to find out the paperwork submitted was incomplete. At this point I started raising hell with GM, and after several phone calls finally had it processed and had the check in 2 weeks. It left a bad taste in my mouth about buying the extended out of state again.

Goaty,
You have had the same bad experience with Rimrock that others have had.
I can't access the plans that were sold thru them. It shouldn't have been an issue and I apologize for that.
I vow to provide the best possible service both on the sales and cancellation end.
There's no reason to worry about buying a plan out of state. I wish that you had contacted me directly so that I could assist you.
Thanks for clearing up your post and removing my name and substituting Rimrock.

Doug, you can PM Ken here, or call Denny Menholt (406-545-4546) and ask for him. I pm'ed Ken, he gave me a great price, and I worked the deal with another person there as Ken was on vacation. It was smooth, and easy.

I thought as long as it was the GM protection plan and not through the one that starts with an A, can not remember the name, it can be sold to you by Kenny.
