I noticed cruising on highway, you have to be about 70 to 75 to go into 8th. Otherwise you are in 7th. Gas mileage goes up the faster you drive to get into 8th.

wandering around the city at no more that 55 mph the automatic will stay in 7th. The automatic transmission is geared so that the car runs at a low enough RPM that it can say in the lower gear. On the freeway to lower the RPMs it will go into 8th for the fuel efficiency.

Technically 7th and 8th gears are overdrive gears and you need to be rolling pretty fast for 8th gear to be in an rpm range that isn't lugging the engine.

Can "cruise" at a good speed in 6th and less than 2,000 RPMs.

You do have to get moving a bit, glad it works lol. 1,000 miles and haven't gone too fast yet?

Mine goes into 8th at about 60 mph.

This is probably a dumb question- but other than putting it in manual mode, how do you know what gear it's in?
Mine just shows "D" for drive in the instrument cluster and heads-up display (regardless of track, touring, etc display mode).
The only way to get it to show the gear is to move it to manual mode (e.g. upshift or downshift with the paddle, or physically move the shift lever to "M").
Is there a way to see the gear # changes when it's in full automatic mode?

The graphics on this display are not well designed... the background is highlighted, and the gear display is white, but it is there if you look closely.

Can you please post a photo from your car. I must be looking in the wrong spot.
