Default Tire & Wheel protection packages....

Ok, I've browsed dozens of pages of tire and wheel packages and am finding tons of conflicting information...

Ive seen guys paying $600-$800 for 60 month packages. I was given a $1,300 quote from a forum vendor.

I'm looking for a package that covers cosmetic, nail/road debris damage, etc. etc.

Ive never gotten a policy for a car, only for a motorcycle and I know they would refuse to patch them and any hole damage would be a replacement of the tire. Is it the same for run flats?

Also, am I posting in the right area?

Thanks!

Wow, good timing. I just bought the wheel and tire warranty yesterday with my car. Mine was $379. Good for five years and includes any damage done to the wheels or tires. I also saw a forum comment today saying it's not good for runflats. I have to check my paperwork, because the guy didn't mention that. If that's the case, I'll cancel it. This is also my first experience with it, so this is all I know.

Could I ask -- is this a GM warranty and did you buy from the dealer?

FWIW, I just called America's Tire (which I think is Discount Tire in other parts of the country) and they quoted me $193 for road hazard coverage for the tires only.

Vety few will cover cosmetic damage to tires or wheels. Read the coverage AND exclusions very carefully.

No. Depending on where the leak is runflat tires can be repaired.

Tire/wheel "protection" packages are insurance. Most people won't need it while a few will. The insurance company knows this and it's how they make money. I don't waste my money on them.

I have my contact in hand now. I bought it at the dealer. No where in the contract does it state a company name (really weird IMHO). Googling the 800 number brings me to www.iasdirect.com, so it's obviously not a GM warranty.

It says it covers road hazards, such as curbs, nails, rocks, tree limbs, potholes, debris. It does not cover any natural wear. It will not cover anything if there is less than 3/32" tread remaining. I don't see any mention of excluding run-flats, so I guess they're covered.

After replacing my wheels every two years over the past ten years of this latest corvette...

I'd pay up to 600 bucks for five years coverage for bent rims...

The alloy wheel repair guys couldn't fix my last set of rims no matter how hard they tried...

The road conditions these days with pot holes that you can't avoid ...are costing me a fortune in time and energy...

I daily drive about 12000 miles a year in the New York metro area...

Depends on your area roads and mileage you drive your car...

I normally don't buy extended wheel and tire contracts but next time I'll spend up to 600 dollars for coverage...

Just be aware when you roll into most dealers to claim a new wheel...they miraculously find some other not needed repair they tell you ...you need...

Just get the wheel replaced and don't do other wise suggested needed unrelated repairs....

Like your health...get a second opinion on unexpected repairs suggested at the time of a wheel replacement..

It's part of the scam

Considering the costs of Vette wheels/tires why would you not? That's cheap insurance for the peace of mind.

The warranty I bought from my GM dealer for my C6 was approx. that price, and it did cover run flats. I know this from experience. Of course they had to order the tire.

All I know is that I wish I had gotten a policy. This summer I picked up a BOLT driving my regular roads around town in my 2015 with Z/51.
The passenger side rear tire with 2,500 miles cost me $500.00 to have replaced - I could only find one at the dealer and obviously had to have the same brand tire.

I got a warranty for my tires when I bought my Z06 for $299 for 5 years, good for up to 4 tires replaced from the dealership. Glad I got it as just two weeks in, the back right tire began to lose air pressure and sure enough, a nail was in the tire. Took it back to the dealership who replaced it and I even got a loaner car while they did it did so I didn't have to wait there as I needed to run some errands. No charge for me other than filling up the gas tank on the loaner car. That more than covered the $299 I paid and I still got 4 years and 3 tires left covered.

OK guys, where are you getting the less expensive wheel and tire coverage?

PM me if you would rather than post on the Forum.

Ken Fichtner used to advertise specials on here - not sure if he's still around though. I got mine from him 2 years ago
