Default Fact or Fiction?

I was told by a car salesman that my NPP exhaust will get louder after 10,000 miles. Is this true? I currently have 6,500 miles on my C7 and it sounds great.

Rule of thumb - every thing a car salesman tells you is fiction.

Mine sounds great at 1000 miles. However, louder would be fine with me.

I wonder what his line of reasoning was with that.

I have over 10k on mine and I haven't noticed that. I think that salesman is FOS.

Well, at 5000 miles it still wasn't loud enough for me, so I installed some Bullets.

If you want loud, consider a Corsa Extreme exhaust!

Tone can definitely change over time especially after Carbon build up and stuff like that ... not sure it would get louder .. but maybe sound different.

There is no packing material to blow out to make it sound louder, however, the tone may change slightly due to carbon/soot build-up. That being said, my Corsa set-up seems to be getting louder, which makes no sense... so... IDK.

It is amazing to me that any of you purchased any vehicles at all. Yu'alls think less of car salesmen than Hillary Clinton. Fact is...MY NPP EXHAUST on my C6 got louder after 10,000 miles....the "gurgles and pops" were more pronounced. The same is happening to my 2016 C7.

Sounds like some "Bovine Scatology" to me.

I would agree with that since my C6 NPP also got louder with more miles.
It has to do with the NPP flaps located in the exhaust tips "after" the mufflers.
Even though more exhaust gasses flow through the less restrictive pipes inside the muffler with the flaps open, (path of least resistance ) some still exits through the baffled section pipes.
Especially under hard acceleration / higher RPMs with the increased pressure.
After time, the baffle material breaks down and becomes less restrictive letting more exhaust/sound through.
Can't say I notice it yet with the C7 but only has 4500 miles on it so far.
Whether or not 10,000 miles is a magic number is anyone's guess and sure it's a gradual process and doesn't just happen one day

Maybe it's just tone, but as stz posted some aftermarket systems seem to have gotten louder over time. And that's been reported by more than a few owners for at least the entire last gen of Corvettes. Design difference may be in how/what is used in NPP vs. aftermarket, but I'd guess pretty similar materials. So, it's possible IMO.

Why would a sales"person" lie? Of course it is true. It gets louder because you can no longer hear their gums flapping with "features and benefits" of this fine automobile.

Doubtful it will get much louder, but best way to find out is drive it and see.
