Look at it from his point of view.
He paid serious money to go from an obsolete C6 to a wonderful, highly technologically advanced C7 with all those gas saving things like AFM, VVT, DI and more gears plus a lightweight aluminum frame and lightweight hollow cast aluminum suspension parts, lightweight carbon fiber hood and roof(if a coupe)and he ended up with worse gas mileage, that costs him additional money every time he pulls up to a gas pump.

I love my C7 and am super happy when I can get terrible mileage... My record is 8.x mpg on the track & drag strip!

Was speaking to a older gentleman who just purchased a new GS.
He wasn't happy with the 29 mpg he was getting compared to his c6 that was getting 32 mpg.
I started laughing and told him I was thrilled getting 19 mpg driving mine like I stole it.
I got him really pissed by saying who buys a vette for gas mileage?
He turned around and walked away.

Didn't buy mine for the MPG's, but certainly ain't complaining that if I cruise with it, I can get close to 30.
Not many sub 12 second 1/4 mile cars out that that can advertise that and be truthful.
Fortunately the C7 can be many things to different people. I see nothing wrong with touting the gas mileage attainable with this car.

Given that he was an older gentleman he should recall the days of 8MPG with the 427. Or was it my 428 GT500?
I think that's what I got back in the day. If that's a fabrication blame it on Alz.

I always like to get high score on any display. I achieved 7.0L/100 in the C7 as oppesed to 7.6 L/100 ( 41 MPG versus 39 MPG ) so it is more effieicent but the DOD makes it very clunky with an M7 and hardly worth all the effort considering the whoop-la about fuel economy...
BUT this TAKES EXTREME RESTRAINT and after i got the high score.... i didn't care about it anymore....

That has happened to me on occasions; with both the Corvette and my daily driver. People want to know what the MPG is and I tell them I really don't know... have no reason to check; they react as if it's weird to not know this.
Recently I sold my DD; an Avalanche (4 door V8 crew-cab full size pickup, uses the Suburban chassis). Same thing when asked by those interested in what the MPG was. I told them that I didn't know, and anyone that owns a full size crew cab pickup generally doesn't bother with that spec. I suggested to these "curious" to look at a smaller truck model.
"But, we got a big boat/trailer to pull..."
