Only 23% Corvettes with manual trannies
I had read this today that out of all the 2016 corvettes, only 23% come with a manual transmission. This is kind of hard for me to believe with so many guy's requesting their car have a manual transmission in it when purchasing. I guess the AUTO tranny is king after all. If this has been posted prior to my thread, I apologize. I don't feel so bad having the A6 in my C6 GS after all.

I'm ashamed that I don't know how to drive manual.

To each his own. Me, I like the paddle shifting in mine and use it ALL the time. No more foot cramps using a clutch.

I too was shocked by this stat, and I had a helluva time locating a 7M when I purchased my car in early August. Since it's not a DD, I was adamant about buying a stick. Lots of cool technology packed into today's (dare I say AUTO?) but this purchase was strictly for fun, hence my insistence on a stick. Bottom line is you're driving an awesome car, regardless of the tranny. Enjoy!

Autos have outsold manuals for many years. Not a new thing.

My first two Corvettes were manual, a 2006 and a 2013. Now that I am staring down the barrel of being 65 years old I went with the A8 on my 2016 base coupe. I'm not much of a paddle shifter guy but I do enjoy the automatic transmission. I still find myself looking for that clutch every once in a while.

I think the actual number is 27% of C7s manufactured are manuals.
However, if you ask CF members what they own, more than 51% own manuals. It's pretty clear manuals are highly valued among "enthusiasts."

True, true, but the percentages continue to decline to the point of car mfrs. no longer including it at all for many models. I recall many years ago when the overall percentage for all cars produced had it at over 25% manual transmissions (no trucks, just cars). It went steadily down and the last I saw at least 5-10 years ago is for all cars, less than 7%. For the least expensive car in every make, very few get sold with a manual trans, even if offered.
I am glad Corvette is a holdout and still offers it - but for how long is the question.

Terrible news.
This is my concern. The manual is already gone from the CTS-V for the 3rd generation. The 1st generation only offered manual, but with a 90/10 auto/manual split in the 2nd generation, they didn't even try in the 3rd.

Yup, pretty much. Every time anything like this is brought up we're told that "enthusiasts" prefer manuals by an overwhelming majority - which insults 3/4 of all C7 owners, or why manual are better, etc, etc, etc.
I will never understand why manual trans owners feel the constant need to justify their purchase or insult those who bought something different.

Had my left hip replaced twice in 2014 (protip: don't fall when you're in rehab), but never really thought for a moment about getting the automatic when shopping for my C7. It's kind of a badge of honor for me to still be driving a manual 'Vette and, for me, it's more fun. Plus, I like making fun of my friends who couldn't drive my car if they wanted to (not that I'd let 'em).
That said, I dig the technology in the C7. The automatic is definitely the latest and greatest, and I completely understand why those who drive them love them.
